The Supercopa El Clasico first leg match will be held at Camp Nou tonight. As the opening game of season 2012/13, the match will determine which is the best between Real Madrid and Barcelona.

The question is, will Real Madrid survive the game, knowing that they didn’t start the league season in a fancy way after a 1-1 draw over Valencia last week ?

As for Barcelona, it’s out of the question. They have succeeded in tasting their first league victory of the season by trashing Real Sociedad with an amazing 5-1 score. Then again, history still take side on Real Madrid. Statistically, from 5 Supercopa match, Real Madrid have won 4 of them. But we all know, it takes more than just a statistic to win a game against Barcelona.

As we all can remember from last Supercopa, the 5-4 score aggregate result for Barca’s victory came from a highly tension match, if we won’t call it violent. Especially the second leg at Camp Nou, where the referee threw a lot of cards, 8 yellows and 2 reds, which showed their brutality on the pitch. Yet the most annoying thing of the game was Jose Mourinho’s unexceptable behaviour over Tito Vilanova, for poking his eye.

But enough with that, and let us put more focus on the main object here, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. These 2 players are no doubt are the biggest reason why El Clasico become more interesting.

Besides Real Madrid vs Barcelona , El Clasico can also be called the clash of Messi and Ronaldo. However, based on the last Spanish league performance, Messi is one step ahead Ronaldo. As we can see on the game, Cristiano Ronaldo performance was just so-so, and far from dangerous. He played below his own standards and failed to create threatening shots.

For the disappointing performance, Cristiano Ronaldo made a statement :

“Physically, we’re not in our best condition. This is normal. We will be better, we’ll try to,”said Ronaldo. “We have tried everything, but we still have to reach the highest level we can.”

And while Ronaldo is still working out to get his performance back, Messi already shown his best by scoring 2 goals in the 5-1 winning over Sociedad, and helped Barcelona to stole 2 points in the standings. Not to mention the pre-season friendly matches, where Messi made similar action by scoring more goals.

This condition is tough even for Ronaldo, which all his action on the pitch will be putting in comparison by the press.  And what makes it even harder, is that the first leg clasico will be held at Camp Nou, a place that is like a playground for Messi and his teammates. The only thing that Real Madrid can do is to give it all out, with 100% of confidence and optimism.

In the end, apart from the heat between the two team, we still expect to see a fairplay and entertaining football match. And may the best team win.

For 3 whole year with Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo failed to add another Balon D’Or trophy in his collection. It was hard enough to watch Lionel Messi walked away with the title, but for him to win it 3 consecutive years just unbearable. This year, hopefully it will be different. Why ? Because finally, his well performance has helped Los Blancos  in stopping Barcelona’s domination in Spanish league.

The question is, was it enough ?

Since he joined Real Madrid, he had a bit hard time to overcome the European football competition. 3 years now and still no Champions league title.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal record in Champions League competition last season was actually far from disappointing. He collected 10 goals,  and helped Real Madrid to reach the semi-finals round. But once again, he lost to Lionel Messi who became CL top scorer by grabbing 14 goals.

Luckily this year, Cristiano Ronaldo has an advantage to overcome Messi through his national team. With the help of his performance in Euro 2012,  Cristiano Ronaldo has bigger chance to win Balon D’ Or.  Let’s face it, although Portugal didn’t make it to the final, Ronaldo succeeded to fill the expectation as a captain and reached the semi-finals.

But still, to win his second Balon D’Or, Cristiano Ronaldo needs  more than just number of goals.  He needs to improve his skill with the team, and work a bit on his attitude on the pitch.

As for the visitor Real Madrid, they only need 1 more victory to ensure their place as the winner of Spanish league Title this season. So a victory tonight will be an early celebration for them, and a draw can only give a slight hope for rival Barcelona.

Back 2 seasons ago, Ronaldo and Messi already start the pichichi fights. In season 2009/10, Messi won the title with 34 goals, while Ronaldo who mostly suffered with injury in his first year with Real Madrid can only collect 26 goals.

But on the next season, it was Ronaldo’s turn to grab the pichichi by scoring 40 goals for  the Whites. He was far lead from Messi record in 31 goals.

Clearly, this year the competition between the 2 best players are getting stiffer.  That can be shown on the goal ratio which has increased into 10%.

Real Madrid best record was with Manuel Pellegrini back in season 2009/10, when they lost to first place Barcelona who collects 99 points.

But based on the first leg match against the 3 last clubs, Real Madrid will surely win the game (Real Madrid 4-1 Bilbao)(Madrid 5-1 Granada)(Mallorca 1-2 Madrid). And if they get through it, they will end the season with a fantastic achievement, as the first time ever to collect 100 point.

But then it became such a disappointment after Barcelona and Real Madrid got kicked out in the semi finals. And as shocking as it was, the crucial match happened at their own home ground, where they usually become every football  club’s nightmare.

Both their top players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi each have failed in a matter of life penalty shot. True, in football anything could happen. Even hundreds of million euros can’t help any club from getting the dream Trophy.

What makes it unbearable to face, is that both team were showing a great expectation in the group match. Madrid succeeded in getting a perfect point, while Barcelona only lost 2 points after a draw over AC Milan.
