Cristiano Ronaldo has his fair share of enemies and contrary to popular belief, Lionel Messi is not one of them. The Argentine and Ronaldo are not friends, but they also do have a professional mutual respect for each other.
We look at some of Ronaldo’s bona fide enemies on the football stage.
Erik Ten Hag
Ronaldo’s second stint with Manchester United ended late in 2022 under controversial circumstances following a breakdown in his relationship with current United boss Ten Hag. In an interview with controversial British Journalist Piers Morgan, Ronaldo even went as far as to say that he does “not respect” the Dutch tactician.
Gerard Pique
Ronaldo only won two La Liga titles during his nine year spell with Real Madrid. A big reason for that was due to the presence of Pique in the Blaugrana side. The two dislike each other due to the rivalries which they had between 2009-2018.
Pique previously poked fun at Ronaldo by emulating his “calma” celebration. Ronaldo responded to the mocking of him by Pique by saying that others are always trying to imitate him.
Koke
Ronaldo’s hatred towards Koke is likely to run as deep as his hatred towards Ten Hag. In November 2016, the Spaniard made some vile comments about the Portugal legend after Real recorded a 3-0 win over their city rivals.
Koke allegedly used vulgar language towards Ronaldo and the duo had an ugly exchange in the second half of the game.
Xavi Hernandez
The current Barcelona coach once implied that Ronaldo does not have the same level of football intelligence as Messi during a debate about who is better between CR7 and the Argentina legend.
Xavi, a 2010 World Cup winner with Spain then went on to say that his comments were misunderstood. However, we all know that he probably did this to try and avoid further controversy.
