For 3 whole year with Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo failed to add another Balon D’Or trophy in his collection. It was hard enough to watch Lionel Messi walked away with the title, but for him to win it 3 consecutive years just unbearable. This year, hopefully it will be different. Why ? Because finally, his well performance has helped Los Blancos  in stopping Barcelona’s domination in Spanish league.

The question is, was it enough ?

Since he joined Real Madrid, he had a bit hard time to overcome the European football competition. 3 years now and still no Champions league title.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s personal record in Champions League competition last season was actually far from disappointing. He collected 10 goals,  and helped Real Madrid to reach the semi-finals round. But once again, he lost to Lionel Messi who became CL top scorer by grabbing 14 goals.

Luckily this year, Cristiano Ronaldo has an advantage to overcome Messi through his national team. With the help of his performance in Euro 2012,  Cristiano Ronaldo has bigger chance to win Balon D’ Or.  Let’s face it, although Portugal didn’t make it to the final, Ronaldo succeeded to fill the expectation as a captain and reached the semi-finals.

But still, to win his second Balon D’Or, Cristiano Ronaldo needs  more than just number of goals.  He needs to improve his skill with the team, and work a bit on his attitude on the pitch.

Real Madrid collects 97 points after another away victory over Granada last night. Only 1 more win, and they will create new record as the first club to ever collect 100 point in league competition.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored a goal on the match through penalty kick. His 2 last failed penalty were giving his a bit of pressure, and this time, he succeeded in executing the goal.

Now he already collects total 45 goals in La liga, however, he  still lost to Messi in top scorer, after Messi adding another 4 goals  into total 50 goals.

To make a new 100 point record, Real Madrid have to win all the rest of the matches, against Bilbao and Granada in away game , and hosting Mallorca at the last match.

Real Madrid best record was with Manuel Pellegrini back in season 2009/10, when they lost to first place Barcelona who collects 99 points.

But based on the first leg match against the 3 last clubs, Real Madrid will surely win the game (Real Madrid 4-1 Bilbao)(Madrid 5-1 Granada)(Mallorca 1-2 Madrid). And if they get through it, they will end the season with a fantastic achievement, as the first time ever to collect 100 point.

But then it became such a disappointment after Barcelona and Real Madrid got kicked out in the semi finals. And as shocking as it was, the crucial match happened at their own home ground, where they usually become every football  club’s nightmare.

Both their top players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi each have failed in a matter of life penalty shot. True, in football anything could happen. Even hundreds of million euros can’t help any club from getting the dream Trophy.

What makes it unbearable to face, is that both team were showing a great expectation in the group match. Madrid succeeded in getting a perfect point, while Barcelona only lost 2 points after a draw over AC Milan.

So what could go wrong ? Could they just under-estimate the underdog team that is apparently showed their true power in the important match ?

Or maybe it was because they have put too much mind and energy in the Spanish league competition that they barely have left for the Champions League ?

No matter what answer we could find, it proves that in football, creativity and mentality is the most important, more than just  match statistics. Chelsea and Bayern Munich both can proudly enter the finals simply because they are willing to take risk and put on different strategy in facing the most powerful team, as well as showing a strong mental and confidence.

The proves can be seen when both Real Madrid and Barcelona, despite showing their domination in the match, they kept on making mistakes due to frustration that finally become the advantage from the opponents.

For Ronaldo, in the last 3 visit to Camp Nou, he never failed to score. The goal also adding to his collection of total 54 goals in all competition. In Spanish League, Ronaldo leads one goal from Lionel Messi, which makes him the top scorer in league competition so far.

On the last Clasico match, Ronaldo appeared to be more dangerous than Messi , who had difficulties on having his way off from Madrid’s defenders.

While Ronaldo had 6 shots attempts, Messi only made it one time. According to the stats, Messi was barely became a threat for Real Madrid, as if he lost his magic. It was kind of surprising since he had 13 goals in 18 Clasico matches, compare to Ronaldo’s 5 goals in 15 Clasico games.

“I’m very happy. Now I have scored 3 goals in the last 3 Clasico in Camp Nou. But the important thing is the team, and I congratulate my team for their performance,” said Ronaldo after the match.

“It was an important goal, but the team’s victory is more important. We still have 4 matches left, and with 7 point margin, we are now in a save zone,”added Ronaldo.

Against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid failed to get the advantage after Mesut Ozil’s goal in the second half. Bayern scored the first goal in just 17th minute through Ribery, but the last minute goal from Mario Gomez has shut Real Madrid’s hope to make the second leg easier. They had to surrender with 2-1 on Bayern’s victory.

Similar thing happened in Barcelona clash against Chelsea. Having an offensive strategy and showed their domination through out the match, Barcelona had to return with a painful 0-1 loss.

Didier Drogba scored the winning goal at the first half round during the injury time. Yet for the next 45 minutes, Barcelona failed to maximize their opportunity to create a goal.

The Spanish league competition was accused to be their disappointing performance. Now that the league is getting near the end, the competition is getting stiffer. Again, it involves Real Madrid and Barcelona. Playing 1 or 2 match in a week clearly had putting off their stamina.

However, both team still have the chance for a payback in the second leg match. To enter the Champions League final round, Real Madrid only need to win 1-0, while Barcelona need to do at least a 2-0 victory.
