Today at the Dubai’s 8th International Sports Conference, Cristiano Ronaldo was awarded with Globe Soccer Best Player of the Year Fan Favorite Award.

In an interview at the Dubai International Sports Conference, Cristiano spoke about his own goals and the pressure that comes with being one of the best players in the world.

“You have to be strong and focused in everything you do. Sometimes I like living with the pressure.

“It’s always going to be tough to break my own records.

“It will not be easy to fulfill my goals, I know it will be tough but I’ll try. If you do not try, you do not meet your goals.”

Cristiano went on to discuss the Portuguese national team and their chances in the 2014 World Cup, as well as the Spanish national team.

“Portugal are not the favourites and that gives us an advantage.

“They deserve everything they’ve won because they are the best.  Why haven’t they won all those titles earlier? Who knows, that’s football.  I hope that in the future Portugual’s day will come just as Spain’s has.”

Cristiano then discussed who is favourite players was, jokingly stating that he was his own favourite.

“Apart from me, just kidding, just kidding I do not have a favorite player in the world, there are a lot of great footballers in the world.  I like playing alongside great footballers, like my teammates at Real Madrid and I also like to play against great players too.”

The interview was around his career in Real Madrid, and also his future. The interviewer also asked about his possible career path with Barcelona.

After thinking for a moment, Ronaldo answered, “”No. .. (smile) I will answer honestly. I keep to my word, my promise and dreams. I’ll never close any door to any club.”

“But if I have to choose, Barcelona would be the furthest door. There will be an easier door to open,” he continued, adding that if Real Madrid wants to sign him for life, he will.

“Madrid is the world’s richest club, which has more history and who won more Champions Leagues. We feel that the demand is very high. There’s pressure when we walk down the street, which is good.”

What is the music to Cristiano Ronaldo?

Singing is not what I do best, but sing a little bit.The music drags all of us, we hear it before workouts, parties, part of Real Madrid’s family. Music is part of my life. I’ve grew up in music, I like it because it relaxes me before the match.

What is your favorite music?

I like all music, depends on the mood,…it depends on many factors.

Anyone who knows you says that you are a person with a great atmosphere. Is it so difficult to know the real Cristiano Ronaldo?

I think not. People who lives with me everyday knows who I am. But other think differently.

Marcelo’s always smiling. How do you see him?

A positive person. Marcelo is a special person , every day we laugh, joking. He is a very happy guy, and gives a good influence. I consider myself a lucky guy because I’m easy to get close with a person who jokes a lot.I love the team, it’s phenomenal. It’s easy to grow and learn in such environment.

Is it one of the best team you ever been so far ?

Yes. I was in Manchester very well, having a great time in dressing room, but there were 4 or 5 senior players who were a bit more serious. The Real Madrid dressing rom is one of the most outgoing environments in which I have been.

How many true friends do you have?

I have friends that grew up with me and others on the team. They’re my second family, we see each other everyday. I have many friends in the club, but I have only a few true friends.

How do you value them?

When I was younger I couldn’t understand the meaning of true friendship. Now I have more experience and I know who loves me without wanting anything.

What thing that you can’t tollerate ?

A lie. It’s the worst thing for me. I can accept a positive lie, but it’s a thing that gets me angry.

Playing in a local club is always like a dream. My cousin was the captain. One day he took me with him and I loved it. Then everything started there.

“The nice thing about this Sports Illustrated tour is that I finally got a TV this year, the first I’ve had in three years in New York,”said Irina.

“I’m on the road around half of the year, so I had to explain to my friends when they came to my apartment and saw that I had no internet, no television, no food in my refrigerator, “Look, I don’t really live here. I live in planes.” I’m enjoying it, though,”she added.

Q:  All of these children here dream of becoming a footballer like you…

A:  I was also that age at one point and I had the same dreams.  Why not?  They have their whole lives in front of them, and they need to believe that one day they will become footballers.  Looking at them is like going back in time, because it reminds me of my childhood, my dreams.

Q:  What were your dreams?

A:  I was a normal kid who liked to play with the older ones.  I only stopped playing football when my mamá called for me to go home.  Those were the happiest moments of my life, because you do things without thinking, you say what you think, you have innocence… and thanks to this childhood which I enjoyed a lot, I was able to achieve my dream of becoming a footballer.  And I’m happy to be one.

Q:  When you played with the older kids, did they give you more kicks than you’re receiving now?

A:  The same, because I was small, but I already did many things with the ball, the same I do now.  I would get up and continue, because they were older and if I talked back to them, they would hit me [pobrecito!].

Q:  Were you very small?

A:  Very small and very thin.  I grew a lot when I was 13 or 14.  That’s the way my genes were.

Q:  What is the secret to success?

A:  I have a very clear and defined opinion on this.  You always have to believe and feel that you can become a footballer, that if you work hard and have ambition, you can get to where you want to be.  We all have an opportunity in life and you have to believe in it.  I started at the age of 12 with Sporting de Lisboa and everything went well for me after that, although I had to leave my family in Madeira and I cried every day.  There were some very complicated moments, but I overcame them because I always believed I could become someone in this life, with the help of my family and the directors in the club.

Q:  Did leaving your family at that age leave a mark on you?

A:  It was a very painful moment.  I left the persons that loved me the most for a different place where no one knew me.  But if I hadn’t gone through this, I wouldn’t be the person that I am today.  That’s why I’m also very grateful to my family for not holding me back.

Q:  You just came back from Geneva, where Messi won, and is 20/1 when using a fortuna promo code to win again this year; did you talk to him?

A:  I don’t see it as a personal battle.  We talked during one moment in the game and we spoke of normal things, nothing special, just like with Di María.
