Following Real Madrid’s embarrassing exit from the UEFA Champions League, Cristiano Ronaldo’s cousin Amílcar Miguel Dos Santos Fernandes died on Wednesday, March 11 only to add more tragedy in Cristiano Ronaldo’s surroundings recently.

32-year-old Amílcar Miguel Dos Santos Fernandes reportedly died in a car accident. When informed on this breaking news, Cristiano Ronaldo canceled his meeting for the presentation of an isotonic drink advert.

He subsequently traveled straight away to his homeland Madeira and joined the rest of his family. Speaking over the tragic death of his cousin, Cristiano Ronaldo stated:

“This is one of the saddest moments of my life. I will never forget it.”

However, despite being asked by his beloved mother to remain in Madeira much longer for the funeral of Amílcar Miguel Dos Santos Fernandes , Cristiano Ronaldo decided to fly back to Spain so as to attend Real Madrid’s training session today.

Cristiano Ronaldo is expected to feature for Real Madrid against Valladolid as La Liga resumes this weekend. Will we see a performance from the star winger in honor of the late Amílcar Miguel Dos Santos Fernandes ?

[/caption]Madeira native Cristiano Ronaldo enjoyed an excellent night at the Santiago Bernabeu last Sunday as Real Madrid thrashed Villarreal 6-2 in La Liga. The Portugal captain scored from a free-kick to open the scoring. He thus sent a message of sadness to his country which was hit by mudslides during the weekend.

A day earlier, Barcelona had trounced Racing Santander 4-0 at the Camp Nou to open a five-point gap at the top of La Liga table.
This result somehow put Real Madrid under more pressure to get a positive result at the Santiago Bernabeu against Manuel Pellegrini’s former club, Villarreal.

Some might have bet that Los Blancos’ match against the Yellow Submarines would be a close contest, but at the end of the day it looked much like a one-sided affair thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo’s significant inspiration.

Real Madrid vs Villarreal: First Half (2-1 for Los Blancos)

Cristiano Ronaldo was certainly surrounded by emotions going into Sunday’s La Liga match after hearing the catastrophe that had killed over 40 people in his native island Madeira.

The Portugal captain was aiming to prove his concern for his beloved countrymen and he indeed succeeded. The match was goalless but when Cristiano Ronaldo broke the deadlock two minutes after a quarter of an hour, the flood gates opened.

From Zimbio.com Images

It all started with Cristiano Ronaldo being awarded a free-kick after going down following an illegal block from Villarreal’s defender Mateo Mussachio. “Rocket” Ronaldo stepped up to take the kick and he fired the ball over the wall and straight into the top right corner of the net for another “Apollon 11 x4” goal.

The Portugal captain eventually celebrated emotionally, pulling up the front of his jersey and holding it with his teeth to show his underwear where he had hand written “MADEIRA”. Scoring such an awesome free-kick was certainly the perfect way for Cristiano Ronaldo to send out a message of sadness to his native Madeira Island.

Real Madrid quickly doubled their tally, but their second goal was extremely controversial. Gonzalo Higuain made a blatant dive in the box and instead of being flashed the yellow card he was awarded a penalty kick. Ricardo Kaka calmly slaughtered the ball at the back of the net; Real Madrid led 2-0 after only 20 minutes gone down the clock.
But the visitors responded 10 minutes later. Like Cristiano Ronaldo, Villarreal’s captain Marco Senna scored from a free-kick to reduce his side’s deficit before half time.

Real Madrid vs Villarreal: First Half (5 more goals to witness)

It didn’t took Real Madrid long to widen the goal margin. Inside the 53rd minute of the match, Cristiano Ronaldo was sent clean in attack through Alvaro Arbeloa clever pass from the back. The Portuguese star winger beat the offside trap and raced down the right flank before squaring the ball to Gonzalo Higuain who eventually inscribed his name on the scoring sheet.

At 3-1, Real Madrid thought that they were safe but they were eventually mistaking. Villarreal broke in attack and Brazilian international Nilmar finished off a series of nice passes to set the score line at 3-2 after 65 minutes of game play.

From Zimbio.com Images

The Spanish giants felt the need to kill before being stunned and killed. In another attacking opportunity, Cristiano Ronaldo set up Marcelo who squared the ball into the 6-yard box. Gonzalo Higuain was there to tap it into the net for an easy goal.

Real Madrid never stopped attacking and through Cristiano Ronaldo, they possessed the perfect touches to hit Villarreal’s defensive line. The Portuguese forward dribbled with precision inside the 18-yard box and fed Kaka’s feet instead of selfishly going for goal himself. The former AC Milan star made no mistake as he sent the ball across the goal line to clinch a brace and increase Real Madrid’s margin to three.

With four minutes of normal time remaining, Villarreal conceded another penalty. This time, the referee’s decision proved to be correct as Cristiano Ronaldo was brought down by ex-Arsenal player Robert Pires. Xabi Alonso scored from the spot kick to round up Los Blancos wonderful 6-2 victory at home to Villarreal.

So Real Madrid continued their amazing perfect run at the Santiago Bernabeu in La Liga this season. Their win against the Yellow Submarines of Villarreal was mainly inspired by the emotionally-hit Madeira boy Cristiano Ronaldo. The Spanish giants still lack behind Barcelona in the standings but the gap is only of two points.

Real Madrid have 56 points after 23 match-days. Meanwhile, Cristiano Ronaldo counts 12 goals in La Liga’s top scorers chart. He is 4 goals behind leader Lionel Messi and 2 goals behind third place and team mate Gonzalo Higuain.

[/caption]During Real Madrid’s La Liga match at home to Villarreal, Cristiano Ronaldo was captured by the media sending a clear message to his native country Madeira.

After scoring Real Madrid’s first goal, CR9 showed his underwear in celebration where he had written “MADEIRA” with his own hand writing.

It was his way of sending a message of sadness to the island of Madeira following the big floods that hit the island on Saturday. More than 40 lives are currently feared dead in Cristiano Ronaldo’s native country and he was quick to react towards this issue, expressing his emotions:

“It is a huge catastrophe and a tragedy without precedent,” he said in a message posted on the official Real Madrid website this Sunday.

From Google Images

“Nobody can be indifferent when there is a tragedy of this magnitude and even more so in my case. I was born and grew up on that island, that gave me so much,” said Ronaldo, who added he was willing to help in any way he could.

“I want to say that I am available for that in any way that is possible, I can help the organizations and official bodies to try and minimize the suffering and help people get over the affects of this tragedy as soon as possible,” he added.

His message at the Bernabeu came on an emotional evening that also saw legendary forward Luis Molowny remembered with a minute’s silence.

The story of Cristiano Ronaldo Dos Santos Aveiro is the tale of an ambitious boy achieving his dream of becoming the world’s best. The former Sporting Lisbon starlet – now a Red Devil player – has developed into one of the biggest conqueror in world football. The Portuguese has collected many of Manchester United Football Club honours including the Busby award. His skills and determination have helped him integrate in the Manchester United family and for that, Ronaldo pays tribute to none other but one of his ‘fathers’, Sir Alex Ferguson : “The boss is always important for me, not just last season but every season,” Ronaldo stated. “I am at this club because of him.
“The boss is always important for me, not just last season but every season,” Ronaldo stated.

“I am at this club because of him. He saw me in a few games before I played against Manchester United – people think I came here just because I played [well] against United but itâ€s not true.

In fact, the old Scot is the one who made Ronaldo stay at United in a heart-to-heart conversation that closed the transfer soap opera on this note: Ronaldo remains at Old Trafford.

Cristiano Ronaldo â€s destiny surely wouldnâ€t have been the same if he had not sacrificed his life for football. As revealed by his beloved mother Dolores Aveiro , Ronaldo might have fallen into drugs and alcohol, which would have ruined his fate.

But the grown kid from Madeira is now on top of the world after a successful year; and perhaps he sees Ferguson like the person who opened the door to the new world of his dreams, the world of professional soccer where he is now a high profiled player and a reigning king.

“I’m living a dream I never want to wake up from,” this is one of Cristiano Ronaldo’s several quotes. The 23-year-old Portuguese winger is effectively enjoying a successful career since a couple of years now – certainly, the best years in his professional life so far. Work and determination are two notions behind Ronaldo’s incredible form for which he has received a multitude of honours. But the real factor behind his remarkable development is the comportment of the people against him. The controversial grown kid from Madeira has learned to live with jeers, boos, and accusations since his youngest age. Cristiano Ronaldo’s ambitious spirit builds on his irritated temperament; only the idea of reaching his goal would console him from mockeries. In the 2006 World Cup in Germany, the incident of Rooney’s red card portrayed Ronaldo as a malicious and wicked lad. The silent Portuguese starlet quickly transformed in England’s most hated football personality. Every time Ronaldo would be on the field of play, boos and insults from the crowd would fill the atmosphere of the stadium. But Ronaldo would put these behind and captivate the public with his sizzling performances that helped the club win its first Premiership title....

Every time Ronaldo would be on the field of play, boos and insults from the crowd would fill the atmosphere of the stadium.

But Ronaldo would put these behind and captivate the public with his sizzling performances that helped the club win its first Premiership title since 2003. Whereas everyone was predicting an amazing season for ‘the victim†Wayne Rooney, it was ‘the guilty one†Cristiano Ronaldo who had the better of the year – scoring 23 goals in all competitions and scooping both the PFA Player of the Year and Englandâ€s best young player of the year awards for the first time in over three decades.

It was then that Cristiano Ronaldo came in from the cold.

The Manchester United winger was mostly criticised for winking at the Portuguese bench during Rooneyâ€s sending off, but after all the noise that it provoked in the papers, Cristiano Ronaldo recently admitted that he would have winked again if the incident was to happen once more.

If the winking moment were a cornerstone in Ronaldoâ€s successful path, why would he regret it? He might see his dream fade away in a blink of an eye…
