The Belgian’s contract with the Blues is due to expire during the summer of 2020 and he has been strongly linked with a move to Madrid as a possible direct replacement for Ronaldo. Los Blancos did not manage to find a direct replacement for the 34-year-old Ronaldo last summer after he opted to join Juventus. They have subsequently paid the price. Madrid are a shadow of the side that they were last season. They suffered a humiliating exit from the Champions League during the last 16 by Ajax Amsterdam and are not much of a threat to Barcelona in the La Liga.

Hazard would be a good addition to Zinedine Zidane’s side which desperately needs to undergo a squad overhaul this summer. In spite of achieving success in his own right, Hazard has never quite managed to reach the same heights as Messi and Ronaldo. He has managed to win two Premier League titles, one FA Cup, one League Cup and one Europa League but has never won the Champions League which is considered to be the premier club competition in Europe.

Ronaldo by contrast won the last three successive Champions League editions with Madrid and is attempting to do so for a fourth consecutive season with Juventus this term. Ronaldo is a one-man machine at Juventus in a similar way to how Hazard is heavily relied upon at Chelsea.

Hazard revealed to HLN as translated by Mirror Sport that he hopes to emulate the successes which Ronaldo has enjoyed during his career. When asked if he could be Ronaldo for a day, Hazard replied saying: “Oh yes, it would be fantastic to reach his level of excellence. I think that would be so brilliant.

That’s according to The Daily Star, who report that the 32-year-old wants to end his nine-year spell with Madrid and return to England. Numerous media reports over the past few months have claimed that Ronaldo became fed up with life in Spain during the summer after he was accused of tax evasion by the authorities.

The Portuguese superstar has been unable to recapture his sensational form of old this term and has only managed four goals in the La Liga so far, leading many to believe his time at the Santiago Bernabeu may be coming to a close.

Ronaldo and Hazard to be used in swap deal?

Meanwhile, the future of Eden Hazard at Stamford Bridge is currently the subject of intense speculation, with the Belgian being strongly linked with a move to Madrid.

Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich is keen to make a marquee signing this summer, so much so that he is even willing to use Hazard as part of a deal that will see Ronaldo join the Blues.

Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane recently played down speculation that Ronaldo could leave the Santiago Bernabeu when he said: “I can’t imagine a Real Madrid without Cristiano, not at all.

“He’s a Madrid player and he wants to finish his career here. I don’t see him playing anywhere else.”

Why a Man United move is unlikely

Ronaldo is said to believe that a move to Chelsea is the best offer that he will get and it is unlikely that he will move back to United, considering his relationship with Jose Mourinho deteriorated at Madrid.

United have twice been used by Ronaldo in the past as he leveraged their interested to negotiate new contracts with Los Blancos in 2013 and 2015.

Real’s troubled relationship with United will also further complicate matters.

United refused to let the Spanish giants have goalkeeper David De Gea three years ago and in turn, Real did not let the Red Devils sign striker Alvaro Morata.

Morata eventually ended up joining Chelsea last summer and has scored 12 goals for the club so far.

Cristiano still hungry for a challenge

CR7 may now be past his prime but he still appears to be hungry as ever to win games and carry on playing, and it is unlikely that he will quit the game anytime soon.

With things not going according to plan at Real this season, combined with his accusations of tax evasion, the 32-year-old may just fancy a move away from the Santiago Bernabeu in order to pursue a fresh challenge.

Should Chelsea sign Ronaldo, it will be a major coup and in addition to providing them with quality on the pitch, he will also be a good mentor to younger players within the squad.

Spanish publication Diario Gol broke the news earlier today, following reports the Portuguese superstar had been house-hunting in the UK to start planning for life away from the Santiago Bernabeu.

Ronaldo has reportedly become disillusioned with life at Real Madrid, after being investigated for tax evasion last summer and seeing his relationship with Los Blancos president Florentino Perez deteriorate.

The 32-year-old has long expressed his admiration for former club Manchester United, who are considered favourites ahead of Chelsea and PSG to sign the star should Real acquiesce to Cristiano’s recent request to have the price of his buy-out clause reduced from a symbolic €1 billion to a figure in the region of €100 million.

Real reportedly willing to sell up

Despite closing out 2017 with further individual awards, including the European Sportsperson of the Year and Globe Soccer Best Player of the Year, Ronaldo has had a relatively torrid time in La Liga this season, with Real currently sitting fourth in the table; 14 points behind runaway leaders and long-time rivals Barcelona.

And, according to Diario Gol, Real may be sensationally prepared to let Ronaldo walk should they receive any suitable offers over the next few weeks.

But then it became such a disappointment after Barcelona and Real Madrid got kicked out in the semi finals. And as shocking as it was, the crucial match happened at their own home ground, where they usually become every football  club’s nightmare.

Both their top players, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi each have failed in a matter of life penalty shot. True, in football anything could happen. Even hundreds of million euros can’t help any club from getting the dream Trophy.

However, Ronaldo had a bit of history in Champions League penalty kick. On season 2007/08 when he was still with Manchester United, he failed to execute twice.

The first time was at Camp Nou, at Champions League final. ManUtd rewarded with a penalty  after Gabriel Milito caught on a handsball early of the game. At that time, ManUtd still won the Trophy since the match ended with 0-0, while The Red Devils won the first leg of 1-0.

Second time was against Chelsea, also in the Champions League final, where he failed to take the penalty in the extra round. The  situation was similar when he failed against Bayern Munich yesterday. Over the midweek, Real Madrid lost 2-1 to Bayern Munich on Tuesday night, with a goal from Mario Gomez breaking the deadlock after Frank Ribery and Mesut Ozil had scored. Against Bayern Munich, Real Madrid failed to get the advantage after Mesut Ozil’s goal in the second half. Bayern scored the first goal in just 17th minute through Ribery, but the last minute goal from Mario Gomez has shut Real Madrid’s hope to make the second leg easier. They had to surrender with 2-1 on Bayern’s victory.

Similar thing happened in Barcelona clash against Chelsea. Having an offensive strategy and showed their domination through out the match, Barcelona had to return with a painful 0-1 loss.

Didier Drogba scored the winning goal at the first half round during the injury time. Yet for the next 45 minutes, Barcelona failed to maximize their opportunity to create a goal.

The Spanish league competition was accused to be their disappointing performance. Now that the league is getting near the end, the competition is getting stiffer. Again, it involves Real Madrid and Barcelona. Playing 1 or 2 match in a week clearly had putting off their stamina.

However, both team still have the chance for a payback in the second leg match. To enter the Champions League final round, Real Madrid only need to win 1-0, while Barcelona need to do at least a 2-0 victory.

But could it be that the current FIFA World Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo, edges past Messi to retain his crown come December 21st in Zurich?

Well for the moment, it looks like Real Madridâ€s Portuguese play maker will hold on to his title after topping FIFAâ€s 23-man shortlist for the award.

The former Red Devil player won the FIFA World Club Cup in Japan where he won over the fans with wonderful performances during games. In addition, Ronaldo also won the Carling Cup and the English Premier League with Manchester United.

Ronaldoâ€s only disappointment came in the Champions League final where Lionel Messiâ€s Barcelona beat the Red Devils to lift the crown.

In general, Cristiano Ronaldo had a very good season last term despite having to adjust again after undergoing an ankle operation.

Ronaldo emerged as the leading scorer of his former team, Manchester United, for the third time in a row. His goals against Porto FC and Arsenal in the Champions League also helped him to prove his point as the current World Player of the Year.

Though many might argue about the fact that Cristiano Ronaldo tops the FIFA World Player of the Year shortlist ahead of Messi, some may also consider the fact that the English Premier League was arguably much more competitive than the Spanish La Liga and that playing at the highest level each week is obviously more demanding.
