Match Report : Real Madrid 3-0 Galatasaray (3 April 2013) Champions League Quarter-finals

Real Madrid finished the first leg of Champions League quarter final round with a perfect victory. Playing at Bernabeu, Mourinho’s squad grabbed 3 goals to nothing, thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema dan Gonzalo Higuain who score each goal on the match against Galatasaray. This result will give Real Madrid the advantage for the second leg, since Galatasaray need at least 4 goals to nothing to win the game.

Since the match started, both team played offensive, however, the host appeared more dominant. It didn’t take too long before Cristiano Ronaldo scored the first goal for the team, less than 10 minutes of the game. With the goal, Cristiano Ronaldo became the top scorer on the competition with 9 goals.

Losing 1 point, Galatasaray tried to fight back. They had the chance to equalize the score through Didier Drogba a few minutes later, but still failed. Karim Benzema later doubled the score for Madrid in minute 29th, with a perfect shot. 2-0 for Real Madrid.

2 minutes later, there were a slight incident among Galatasaray player and the referee. Drogba made a protest regarding ref’s decision about Sami Khedira and Michael Essien incident at the penalty area. However, the referee refused to grant the protest.

Until the first half over, the score remains the same.

On the second half, Real Madrid still showed their domination, and lead with the ball possesion. Real Madrid had their chance to add another goal through Angel di Maria and Ronaldo, but still failed.

Madrid’s third goal finally came in minute 73rd. Started from Xabi Alonso’s free kick, Gonzalo Higuain managed to execute the goal with the header. Lead with 3 goals, Real Madrid tightened their defense area, which made it harder for Galatasaray to break through. The match finally ended with the score 3-0 for Real Madrid’s victory.
