The current Ballon d’Or winner, Cristiano Ronaldo, has been named in the 30-man list for this year’s prestigeous honor.
The 24-year-old Portuguese playmaker is one of the three Real Madrid stars that have been included in the list released by France Football late last week.
Lyon’s former number 10 player, Karim Benzema, goalkeeper Iker Casillas, and Brazil’s Ricardo Kaka completes the list of Real Madrid’s football stars that are included in the list.
Cristiano Ronaldo’s former team, Manchester United, present three players – Ryan Giggs, Wayne Rooney, and Nemanja Vidic.
In general, the 30-man list is dominated by footballers from Spain and England. Meanwhile, no Italian player has been selected.
Lionel Messi, however, is the hot favorite to scoop the award come December. The Argentine forward is expected to succeed Cristiano Ronaldo as France Football Magazine’s best player.
