10 Men Real Madrid Wins Over Ponferradina (0-2) in Copa del Rey (13 December 2011)
Real Madrid brought home a 2-0 victory against Segunda Division B team, Ponferradina, in the first leg Copa del Rey match.
Playing in away match, Madrid dominated the match, but find difficulties on creating opportunities. But after 21 minutes, the began to show improvement in ball control, and threatened the host with a deadly attacks.
After a few attempts, Callejon finally scored in minute 29th, with Khedira’s assist . Real Madrid leads with 1-0. But the score has not changed until the break.
On the second half, it took 10 minutes for them to finally dominate the match. Unfortunately, Real Madrid had to play with 10 men after Albiol received his second yellow card for fouling Borja Valle. Mou changed his strategy, and replaced Kaka and Sahin, with Ramos and Granero. The strategy seemed to be working, as Ronaldo scored the second goal for the team in minute 74th, from Higuain’s assist.
In the last 15 minutes of the match, Real Madrid still maintain their domination, but failed to add the point. The match ended with 2-0 for Real Madrid victory.
