Cristiano Ronaldo onced became unstoppable when it comes to a penalty kick execution. But recently,  the Portugal captain is starting to lose his “magic” feet. Near the end of season 2011/12 , Ronaldo has failed a number of penalty shot, and most of it, the failure came right in a critical moment. The question is, will it affect his performance in the Euro 2012 duel against Germany, who’s known as the team with it’s best penalty executors?

According to Volkan Demirel, Turkey’s goal keeper, Ronaldo’s penalty shot was becoming predictable. Against Turkey in the last friendly match, Ronaldo once again failed to execute the penalty kick. Demirel pointed that after observing Ronaldo’s failed penalty against Bayern Muenchen at the last Champions League, that Ronaldo intends to direct the ball to the left side.

With the failed penalty, Ronaldo who was expected to open the chance for the team has clearly dropped the spirit of the team. Just like what happened in the Champions League semi-final.  Madrid has failed to enter the final as the other players have lost their confidence after Ronaldo’s flunked during the  execution.

Of course, against German next Saturday, there’s chance Ronaldo will have to do another penalty shot. And hopefully, he will succeeded in the  end.

Against Turkey, Portugal got left behind after Umut Bulut scored the opening goal for Turkey. Trying to equalized the point in the second half, Portugal failed the effort and had to accept Bulut’s second goal.

Luckily, at minute 57th, Portugal managed to score their first goal through Luis Nani.

At minute 68, Portugal actually had a chance to equalize the score after the ref rewarded Miguel Lopes with a penalty kick. Cristiano Ronaldo  got the honor as the executor, but somehow failed to finish the task.

And as if it wasn’t enough, 2 minutes before the match ended, Turkey scored their third goal. It was like a nightmare as Pepe made a suicide goal, that ended the game with 1-3 for Turkey’s victory. Let us hope they can do better this week in the real match.

However, Ronaldo had a bit of history in Champions League penalty kick. On season 2007/08 when he was still with Manchester United, he failed to execute twice.

The first time was at Camp Nou, at Champions League final. ManUtd rewarded with a penalty  after Gabriel Milito caught on a handsball early of the game. At that time, ManUtd still won the Trophy since the match ended with 0-0, while The Red Devils won the first leg of 1-0.

Second time was against Chelsea, also in the Champions League final, where he failed to take the penalty in the extra round. The  situation was similar when he failed against Bayern Munich yesterday. But while on his 2 Champions League penalties failure he still managed to win the game in the end, but not this time. With Real Madrid, it had stopped him from getting to the final round, followed by his other colleagues failed penalty kick, Kaka and Sergio Ramos.
