La Liga officials have long claimed that Spanish employment law forces clubs to attach a buy-out clause to each player’s contract, but these numbers were largely thought to be hypothetical maximums. That is, at least, until Neymar’s €222 million transfer from Barcelona to Paris-St Germain this summer, in which the French cash kings lodged the full amount as a deposit with the league after the Blaugrana attempted to block the move at every turn.

As a result of such ludicrous figures now changing hands, the buy-out clauses of some of La Liga’s top stars have come under increased scrutiny in recent weeks. And, according to the Portuguese star’s contract with Real, Ronaldo is the joint-most valuable player in the world, with his buy-out – and surprisingly, that of teammate Karim Benzema – standing at a stunning €1 billion.

Lionel Messi, by comparison, has a relatively paltry buy-out clause standing at €300 million, with nine La Liga players deemed hypothetically more valuable than him. Of course, a large part of the figure being relatively “low” is Barcelona’s trust in their star man not to leave the club he so deeply cherishes.

While it would seem one billion euros should be enough to deter potential poachers, the past year has shown us crazy things do happen in football, and no amount of money for the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo can now be considered pure fantasy.

The future of the Portuguese has been in some doubt in recent months, with Ronaldo on occasion not cutting the happiest of figures, while there has also been talk of a bid by Paris Saint-Germain to take the forward, along with Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho, to the Parc des Princes.

But Real Madrid do not want to lose Ronaldo and will not sell him to PSG, leaving the only way for the French club to sign the former Manchester United man to activate his release clause of €1 billion.

Real Madrid had been planning to offload Kaka over the summer and use the wages paid to the Brazilian to increase Ronaldo’s salary.

However, Kaka stayed put, although he is likely to leave either next month or in the summer.

Real Madrid want to add an extra three years to Ronaldo’s contract, taking it up until 2018, while at the same time handing the Portuguese an increased salary.

Ronaldo is believed to want to remain at the Bernabeu, leading Real Madrid to believe they will be able to come to an agreement with the forward.

Cristiano Ronaldo finally made comments over his Real Madrid transfer; the 24-year-old show boy didnâ€t hide his happiness at this big-money move.

Ronaldoâ€s departure from Manchester United has spread irritation and disappointment among many Red Devils fans.

However, the Portuguese winger – who won several club and individual honors with Manchester United – thinks it is time for him to quit England.

“I have had my time at Man United. It’s time to look forward and £80m is quite a sum of money. This deal is historic.”

Ronaldo, who is still in the US for holidays, added:

“It’s flattering when two of the top teams in the world want you to play for them.

“Now I can look forward to Real Madrid and a new stage in my career. I learned of the deal here in LA and heard from my people that United had accepted.”

Manchester Unitedâ€s Luis Nani also expressed his happiness for the Portugal captain.

“It’s a fantastic fee. It puts a new value on Ronaldo. We are talking about an excellent player, so I think it (the fee) is fair.”

“He deserves everything that has happened to him considering what he has accomplished in recent years.

“Real Madrid is a great club and I wish him luck.”

For Spainâ€s number one goalkeeper Iker Casillas, the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo in Real Madrid is a celebration. Speaking to the Daily Star, Casillas declared:

“Cristiano Ronaldo is the best player [in the world], without doubt. I believe that if Real Madrid do the deal then he will help return the club to number one in the world,”

“Ronaldo will be welcomed by the dressing room.”

Meanwhile, Real Madridâ€s former president Ramon Calderon reckons that this transfer success is mainly due to his efforts last year.

“It was easy. We agreed everything and he decided to come,” Calderon stated regarding the secret agreement that was in place between Cristiano Ronaldo and Real Madrid.

“Let’s say it was a gentleman’s agreement.

“Let’s say that everyone involved in the operation agreed to do it this season. That is what I can say. It has happened now; it was a bit early last season.”

The transfer saga will surely finish at the end of this month. Cristiano Ronaldo expressed his desire to leave World Champions Manchester United, so Ferguson – who feels itâ€s time to let Ronaldo leave – gave the go-ahead for Real Madrid to speak with his ace.

Florentino Perez succeeded in bringing Brazilian Superstar Ricardo Kaka in his club. Now the famous White House president is expected to tie things up by the end of June by completing the transfer of the World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo.

Reports suggest that this news is by no means a rumor; a statement coming out from the Red Devils†side tells:

“Manchester United have received a world-record, unconditional offer of £80million for Cristiano Ronaldo from Real Madrid.

“At Cristiano’s request – who has again expressed his desire to leave – and after discussion with the player’s representatives, United have agreed to give Real Madrid permission to talk to the player.

“Matters are expected to be concluded by June 30. The club will not comment until further notice.”

Should the transfer be made (which is said to cost about € 94 million), it will be the most lucrative ever transfer in the world of football. French living legend Zinedine Zidane currently holds the record with his € 73 million transfer deal from Juventus to Real Madrid, while Kaka comes second.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the perfect business product

Real Madridâ€s general director Jorge Valdano yesterday revealed that the Spanish giants were in negotiations with Manchester United over the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo. Jorge Valdano also described the Portuguese player as an excellent business product.

“According to the information we have managed to obtain, he is an excellent professional. You don’t get the player’s body he has, which is a footballing advertisement, without working a great deal.

“Another thing is that his reputation as an officially good-looking guy, and a social or advertising model, blurs his image a bit. He is a great footballer.”

The good news for Real Madrid and Cristiano Ronaldo – who missed Portugalâ€s goalless draw to Estonia – is that the 24-year-old will not be requiring a hernia operation.

English media The Mirror reports that Real Madrid sent a doctor to test Ronaldo who is in holiday in Los Angeles.

Well, Cristiano Ronaldo will certainly become a Galactico this summer. The grown kid from Madeira may have the chance to fulfill his childhood dream by joining Real Madrid.
Moreover, his said-to-be move to Los Blancos comes at a renaissance time for the Spanish Giants led by the Supremo, Florentino Perez.

In just about a week, Real Madrid will know who will be the clubâ€s new president.

Amongst all the candidates, the one who looks very likely to win the contest is one of Real Madridâ€s former presidents, Florentino Perez.

The Spanish man is gaining much support in his campaign, and his success is especially based on his plans to sign the Worldâ€s Best Player of the Year, Cristiano Ronaldo.

Florentino Perez: The deal for Cristiano Ronaldo is almost done!

The meant-to-be Real Madrid president is adamant that Cristiano Ronaldo will join Los Blancos from English side Manchester United. Speaking to Sky Sports, Perez – who is already imagining how the Portuguese Superstar will fit in the squad, declared:

“He’s a player that would be very good if he came to Real Madrid.”

Reports explained that Cristiano Ronaldo had signed a secret agreement with Real Madrid, meaning that it is now almost totally in his power should he want to go to Spain. The World Player of the Yearâ€s angry and dejected reaction after Manchester Unitedâ€s loss to Barcelona in the Champions League final seems to tell that Cristiano Ronaldo is already considering a move from Old Trafford. And these were especially emphasized when Ronaldo retorted that he didn’t know if he’ll be at Old Trafford next season.

But whether these speculations are true or false, Florentino Perez has his mind set on the agreement that was signed last summer.

“What I know is what I’ve read, that there is an agreement by means of which he would come for £80million…”

“Next week we will look at the numbers and nobody should doubt that we are going to design with our sporting advisors a spectacular project.”

Florentino Perez regrets that Cristiano Ronaldo isnâ€t a Real Madrid player since 2007

As part of his campaign, Florentino Perez keeps talking about the prospect of signing Cristiano Ronaldo. But the presidential candidate also used this issue to condemn his foe and former Real Madrid president Ramon Calderon, by stating that the Spanish giants should have signed Ronaldo since 2007.

“Madrid should have brought Cristiano Ronaldo as Beckhamâ€s replacement two years ago,”

“There are specific footballers who can turn out to be very profitable, because of the commercial benefits they bring the club.

“For instance, we once brought in €15m for playing two matches in Japan. That would not happen in the current climate but they did it then because we had Figo, Zidane, Ronaldo and Beckham.”

“If Cristiano Ronaldo comes in, we would have a Nike-endorsed player putting on an Adidas shirt every week,” he explained.

“In the previous time, we established a model which allowed us to pay off our debts and raise our income, and we did it by investing in great players.

“They brought money in, the model worked.”

“I wonâ€t suggest that Beckham did not have to leave in 2007 or that Zidane did not have to in 2006, but we should then have brought in Kaka and Ronaldo.”

Unless Ronaldo decides to fulfil his promise of staying in Manchester United, it will be hard for Ferguson to succeed in keeping him at the club. Certainly, the old Scot will concede his second defeat against Spanish opposition – this time not against Barcelona in the Champions League, but against the Catalanâ€s rivals Real Madrid off the pitch.

Obviously, thereâ€s no need for me to go into details and recall the whole story about the Ronaldo transfer saga. Some say this issue has become tiresome while others follow it with a curious eye and the anxious feeling over Ronaldoâ€s future.

Well, for us journalists, this Manchester United-Real Madrid-transfer-saga is a story that fills our pages with letters, words, arguments, and analytical texts.

Manchester Unitedâ€s crowning as English Premiership Champions put a smile on the faces of millions of Man United fans (like me!) , as well as on the Red Devils†entire club – and this includes Cristiano Ronaldo.

“This is a family club and I am really, really happy here,” Ronaldo said recently.

“It is a fantastic achievement to win the league again and I am really happy.

“Everyone is so friendly at this club and this is why everyone loves Manchester United – and I love it as well.”

But despite the playerâ€s happy attitude over the weekend especially, talks about a transfer from Manchester United are still ongoing.

Real Madridâ€s Florentino Lopez was quoted as saying to the media:

“Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the best players in the world. The best players in the world should play for Real Madrid.”

Real Madrid are no more the frightening giants that every club feared. Astonishing score lines – like the 5-0 aggregate loss to Liverpool, the ridiculous 6-2 thumping defeat to Barcelona, or even the 3-0 loss to Valencia in the league – have completely disgraced this mighty club over the course of this season.

They will need some immense strength to be the Madrid everyone used to know while their rivals Barcelona are marching forward like invincible warriors.

But Perez is determined to do what Ramon Calderon couldnâ€t do – which means to restore Real Madridâ€s pride and to succeed in bringing the Worldâ€s best player Cristiano Ronaldo.
As a result, reports suggest that Real Madrid are prepared to break records by signing Ronaldo for £ 75 million and pay him £ 200, 000 a week.

Speculations have resounded in everyoneâ€s ears since 2008 especially, however Manchester Unitedâ€s David Gill is adamant that Cristiano Ronaldo is and will remain a Red Devil.

The 51-year-old Manchester United Chief rubbish Real Madridâ€s attempt of luring Ronaldo:

“We’ve never had that discussion. There’s absolutely no point in having that discussion. We made it clear last year he’s on a long-term contract with us and it’s never come up.”

One man who brands Real Madridâ€s wish of signing Cristiano Ronaldo as pure fantasy is Lazioâ€s Chairman Claudio Lotito. Speaking to Piazza della Liberta over a club transfer matter between Aleksandar Kolarov, Juventus, and his team, Lotito said:

“Kolarov to Juventus? These are dreams which journalists make up,”

“Even I would like to have Cristiano Ronaldo, but this is not within my possibilities. It’s just false news.”

On the other end of this opinion is Bayern Munichâ€s former midfielder Lothar Matthäus. The 48-year-old was speculating on a possible transfer involving a move for Frank Ribery to Manchester United.

“He [Florentino Perez] would be the first person to break the €100 million mark in history,” he said talking about a Ronaldo switch to Madrid.

“If Ronaldo does not go, then Man United will not buy Ribery. Ronaldo scores thirty goals a year, Ribery doesn’t.”

And speaking about Cristiano Ronaldoâ€s performance, here are some tips and comments which Usain Bolt had to give on his visit to Old Trafford:

“I explained to him a few things about when he is running and reaches top speed he starts to tip over, he always does that,”

“I let him know if he brings his foot on the centre of gravity, or even in front of him, it will be much easier. He will be much better and he will go faster for longer.

“Because he’s so fast they keep pushing him around, he needs to be more aggressive, [then] they will leave him alone.”

The name of the next president of Spanish Giants Real Madrid is yet to be known but Florentino Perez already stands as the hot favorite to take win the position.
The former Galactico President is keen to revolutionize Real and his policies look very much different from Ramon Calderonâ€s.

Perez has set his priority on rebuilding the squad with a technical body which will be headed by Jorge Valdano and Superstar Zinedine Zidane, should he be elected as Real Madridâ€s president.
This decision by Florentino Perez somehow explains that he might drop the Ronaldo hunt – which his long-time foe Calderon started – as he is aiming to get rid of El Supremoâ€s administrative strategy that seems to have led the club into disorder.

The former Real Madrid President amazingly succeeded to lure another Portuguese, Luis Figo, from rivals Barcelona back in 2000 – which helped him to win the elections at that time. This time though, he rather wants to focus on a genuine Real Madrid revolution consisting in reinforcing the team in the rightful way.
Florentino Perez may prefer to have a balanced team with every player in it being responsibly competent instead of building a squad around 1 or 2 foreign stars whom others will rely on.

On the other hand, itâ€s true that Real Madrid will be looking on bringing on the right person(s) to the club that may help them to achieve the Champions League trophy – a competition from which they recently crashed out with a humiliating 5-0 loss to Liverpool on aggregate.

Perez will want to make the right choice when the transfer market opens next summer. Madrid are reportedly looking to sign one megastar, and with Florentino Perez explaining to the media his discontentment over all the noise and uncertainty that the Ronaldo saga caused, rumors point AC Milanâ€s Kaka as Realâ€s target.

One more thing which makes it more improbable that Cristiano Ronaldo will join Real Madrid in the summer is the fact that Los Blancos seem so keen to sign Milanâ€s recently disappointed ace Kaka and that obviously, Madrid would chose one big star player to buy instead of thinking about landing two as the price of their wages added to their transfer tag will be astronomically exorbitant.

The long-term future of Ronaldo is unknown, but what happens next season looks definite: Ronaldo will stay at Old Trafford.

If Pedro Trapoteâ€s comment that a deal was in place to sign Ronaldo next summer seemed nasty for Ferguson, it doesnâ€t look so untrue for the public and the media, especially now.

During the Fifa Player of the Year Gala ceremony in Zurich on Monday, the media inevitably turned their attention on the recent transfer rumors involving the player, Manchester United and Real Madrid.

According to reports, Florentino Perez is believed to have set up an agreement for the transfer of Ronaldo – something which could help him regain the presidency at Madrid.

However, Ronaldo dismissed the rumors saying:

“My agent does not have an agreement with Florentino Pérez,” as a deal has rather been made with Calderon.

Speaking to Sky Sports, agent Balague gave details of the deal:

He explained: “Ramon Calderon, I understand, has got an agreement with the player. He is going to play €12 million to Cristiano Ronaldo, €8m to Jorge Mendes, the agent, and they’ve got €85m – which will go up to €105m – to pay Manchester United.

“All that doesn’t mean there’s any agreement between the clubs. Still, I put all these things to high standing figures at Real Madrid, and they all came out with the same answer: ‘We’re not going to deny this, we’re not going to say that it’s true, but you’re on the right path’.”

“It’s a verbal agreement and I think there will be a punishment though, if it doesn’t get respected in the summer,” Balague continued.

“It’s up to Manchester United to accept or, as they did in the summer, not accept any kind of deal. What is strange that, if Cristiano Ronaldo doesn’t want to leave Manchester United, why is his agent agreeing things with Real Madrid?

“I know Sir Alex Ferguson is going to be upset.”

Certainly, the old Scot wouldnâ€t stand another proposition from Real Madrid to take away his number 7 ace.
Now, itâ€s just not only that!

It appears like Cristiano Ronaldo already has one foot in Madrid after the player sent the tag ‘CR9†to the copyright office in Portugal last month.
Ronaldoâ€s current brand is ‘CR7â€, meaning Cristiano Ronaldo 7 – which is his name in addition with his club and country number.

The fact that ‘CR9†can now be used on merchandise somehow explains that Ronaldo may move to Madrid sooner than later, as the Galaticos†current number 9, Javier Saviola, is expected to leave the club after failing to impress since signing from Barcelona.

The defender, who is currently fighting for a regular place in the starting XI, believes Ronaldo will remain at Old Trafford unless the Reds decide to sell him.

“There should be a level of respect shown between the clubs, but we can’t do anything about the speculation. All we can do is look after our own situation,” insisted Neville.

“Cristiano is our player and he will continue to be our player as long as we want to keep him. The manager has already said that.

“Manchester United don’t let players go that they don’t want to sell, it’s as simple as that. And they want to keep Ronaldo.”

Obviously, the Spanish Giants have understood his message, but will they mind to consider it? It seems like the January transfer window will be highlighted by another war of words if Fergie doesnâ€t keep his calm.
