In between his time at United, he of course played for Real Madrid and Juventus.

While Ronaldo no longer plays for the trio of European giants,

he has acquired lifetime fans at all of the clubs. Specifically at

United and Madrid, he is seen as a legend of the clubs,

and there remains a strong bond with the fanbases of both.

Ronaldo himself will certainly still be interested in how his former clubs get on in the

upcoming season, especially as he maintains friends in Manchester and Madrid’s setups.

Manchester United

At the latter end of 2022, Ronaldo was still Erik Ten Hag’s starting forward.

Since they have had to adapt to life without him, they did qualify

for the UEFA Champions League. In bets for football tonight, the latest odds offer

United at 16/1 to conquer Europe next season.

The club are certainly on the up under Erik Ten Hag. Lisandro

Martinez has helped solidify the defence since joining last summer and

Casemiro – Ronaldo’s former teammate at Madrid – has provided a

much-needed anchorman at the base of midfield.

United will likely add a prolific number nine to their squad prior to

the start of the season. They are certainly well-

equipped to embark on a lengthy European journey, as well as

claim a Premier League top-four finish again.

Real Madrid

Ronaldo won four UCL titles in his time at Madrid, and the serial

winners have not slowed down since he departed. They added

another title in his absence last year against Liverpool.

Madrid have invested heavily in the transfer market over recent years

and has retained Luka Modric and Toni Kroos for at least a further year.

Despite losing Ballon d’Or winner Karim Benzema to Al Ittihad,

Madrid will be expected to reclaim the La Liga title from Barcelona next term.

Los Blancos have a huge level of quality depth in midfield

and defence while they maintain Thibaut Courtois between the

sticks. The attacking depth is questionable, but the likes of Federico

Valverde can step into the front three when needed.

Madrid have a strong chance of regaining the Spanish title in the 2023/24 season, but the

UCL may be a stretch too far without a regular goalscorer at centre forward.

Juventus

Ronaldo won several domestic honours during his time in Turin including

back-to-back Serie A titles between 2018 and 2o20. The Old Lady have

not fared well in his absence – they hit financial troubles and have failed

to win the league title in three years since he left.

Juve will participate in the UEFA Europa Conference League next season,

and a title challenge does not look likely.

The teams around them such as Inter and Napoli are set to invest,

while they may have to sell star players such as

Federico Chiesa in order to settle their finances.

Ronaldo’s former clubs are all in a relatively stable position,

Juve have some troubles but their huge brand and stature in the

footballing world should help

them to recover in the near future.

United and Madrid are expected to win trophies next year,

with many of Ronaldo’s former teammates likely to earn major

accolades. Ronaldo’s time in European football may be over,

but he surely always maintains an interest in his former clubs on the continent.
