The third, the second, the first, the best!

Cristiano Ronaldo has once again spoken out on his own performance over the Ballon d’Or and the Fifa Player of the year award, describing himself as the best player in the world.

Despite recognising the abilities of other players, Cristiano Ronaldo rated himself as the only true contender for the individual honours in a joke which he made in an interview with Sao Paulo-based paper O Estado:

“I am the first, the second and the third best player in the world. But there are other good candidates like Kaka, Messi and Fernando Torres,” Ronaldo said.

“I think I did everything that is necessary to win and I want to continue doing even more.
“My aim is to win everything that is front of me,” he went on to state.

The Star winger has already hit 101 goals in 253 appearances for Manchester United and his breathtaking performance last season earned him a multitude of domestic awards, as well as international honours such as the European Footballer of the Year and the FIFPro World Best Player of the Year Awards.

High profile people like Pires or Schuster have expressed a lot of admiration towards Ronaldo, and amongst them is also Pelé.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who will lead his country in a friendly match against Brazil on Wednesday night, is very much flattered by the three-time World Cup winner’s warm words:

“That means a lot to me. He was a great player and it is a special feeling to earn the praise of someone like Pelé,” Ronaldo avowed.

While his nearest rivals for the two remaining awards – Messi and Torres – are surely out of their respective country’s selection for the international friendly games, Cristiano Ronaldo could enjoy another historic game against the Brazilians.

After scoring amazing goals during the weekend in Premiership, the spotlights will once again be on him, on the one who could be crowned the World’s Best Player in some weeks to come…
