Aston Villa had the better of the game in the first quarter of an hour but it was the home side who took the lead through the World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Red Devils were given a free-kick in the penalty area after 13 minutes. Nani, Giggs and Ronaldo were all over the ball and the last word went to the 24-year-old Portuguese playmaker. Cristiano Ronaldoâ€s shot from the free-kick was too hard for Villaâ€s goal keeper to catch.

Ronaldoâ€s goal seemed to have eased the pressure on the unsteady Red Devils; however, the relief of being ahead didnâ€t last long. John Carew equalized for Aston Villa midway during the first period. Unitedâ€s misery could only worsen when Agbonlahor beat the offside trap and head the ball home after 65 minutes, meaning that Van der Sar had conceded eight goals in four games; the home side were stunned!

Time was running out and the fear of losing the top spot to Liverpool at the end of the day was growing fast. Could the Theatre of Dreams turn into a World of Nightmares?

Less than fifteen minutes of the normal nineteen remained on the clock and the 1-2 score line was already pushing some Manchester United fans to leave the stadium. But the decisive moment was just moments away from happening…

Manchester United were desperate to turn things around and with their unconvincing performance on the day, it even seemed like their shocking miserable form was going to continue. But there came the World Player of Year and Portugal Captain Cristiano Ronaldo to make it 2-2 – which explained that Ronaldo had scored all of Manchester Unitedâ€s four goals since Vidicâ€s opener against Inter Milan in Europe.

His left-footed low shot that drove the ball in the bottom corner of the net suddenly transformed the atmosphere at Old Trafford. The EPL defending champions had find a way back out of nowhere.

Manchester United kept searching for the winner which they finally got in injury time through 17-year-old Italian Macheda. The former Lazio kid had stolen all three points for United on his debut as a substitute.

Each of Manchester Unitedâ€s goals proved to be very much important in this hard-fought game; Cristiano Ronaldoâ€s brace – which took his tally to 20 goals this season – was the source of Unitedâ€s confidence and strength in the dying minutes of the encounter.

So 3-2 was the final score line, meaning that Aston Villa had been denied the possibility of ending their dreadful record against United since the 80s.

Cristiano Ronaldo officially received the Golden Boot Award for being last seasonâ€s EPL top scorer with 31 goals in 34 appearances.

And the PFA Player of the Year marked his title with two goals against the Hammers.

Cristiano Ronaldo scored at the 14th and 30th minute to tie up Manchester Unitedâ€s 2 – 0 win. Ronaldo now has four goals in the league, and he is four goals short from a century for United.

The winger is gradually reaching top form and Ferguson is confident that his player can bag 25 goals this season.

But, Ronaldo himself is not concerned of scoring many goals for the club as he was quoted as saying:

“…my priority is not only to score goals. I don’t have to do that. I just have to play well for the team.”

And it seems like Ronaldo has found back his scoring boots. However, one thing that is lacking these days is a smile in Ronaldoâ€s celebrations. Like BBCâ€s commentators, many people think Ronaldo is not happy in England anymore. But this is what Ronaldo had to reply:

“If I smile it is because I smile. If I don’t itâ€s because I don’t,” he stated.

“People are always writing things about me. It is up to them; for me it is not a problem. I will just try to play well and do my best. I am just focused on playing good football.”

Ambition is indeed what helped Ronaldo to achieve all this success. And the player hopes to continue on the good track he left last season.

Saturdayâ€s late kick-off in the English Premier league featured the reigning champions Manchester United at home to West Bromwich Albion.

After a week of international fixtures, the attention was yet again on club football.

Fortunately, Ronaldo was fit to play for the Reds despite receiving a slap on the face during Portugalâ€s game against Albania.

Before the match on Saturday evening, the Selaccao captain had gone four games without scoring a goal, which came much to the anxiety of his fervent supporters.

Cristiano Ronaldo was creative, entertaining and deadly in front, making tricks and pushing the game forward. In the first half, he set up Wayne Rooney who fired the ball into the net only for his goal to be controversially ruled out.

Ronaldo had a chance to steal the lead for his side but the goalkeeper was just too alerted.. His low shot inside the box was easily caught by Scott Carson.

However, the goalkeeper could not boast of containing Ronaldo for too long. Manchester United already had already gone in front with a Wayne Rooney strike and the Reds were determined to stamp their authority. Cristiano Ronaldo had an excellent opportunity to double the lead. This time, he did not miss the target. Ronaldo drove the ball past Carson in a simple manner to remove any fears of a draw.

Manchester United indeed crushed West Bromwich by an emphatic 4 – 0 score line and Ronaldo was yet again the creator of Naniâ€s 90th minute goal.

Ronaldo becomes better as days go by and the challenge for the 2008/09 EPL Golden Boot Award is on the run.

Two starts and two goals, the European Golden Boot winner is once again the man to watch, not only because of the controversies he causes but also for his dynamic and influential performance on the pitch.

On Saturday afternoon, defending champions Manchester United hosted Bolton Wanderers in a game where victory was the clubâ€s sole option in order to have its campaign back on track.

The Red Devils displayed another entertaining and positive performance and created several chances. However, breaking the dead lock was once again their main problem.

Ronaldo almost found a response to it through a free kick in the first half. He also hit the post in the second period. And the awaited moment was not far away from coming.

Ronaldo won Manchester a penalty – considered controversial by many – and made no mistake while taking it. He fired the ball into the back of the net, sending the keeper the wrong way.

Some minutes later, the PFA Player of the Year stamped his authority by setting up with a back hill pass substitute Wayne Rooney who scored Manchester Unitedâ€s second goal of the game. Fergie knew that Ronaldoâ€s piece of work had assured Man United all three points and the manager then afforded to bring him off for Nani.

Cristiano Ronaldoâ€s presence as a starter has somehow transformed Manchester United. The days of real champions†football and glorious display of soccer are back again!

Manchester United faces Chelsea on Sunday afternoon in a thrilling encounter, where anything less than a victory will mean the start of a disaster at the club.

Ronaldo is Manchester Unitedâ€s last player to score against Chelsea in 90 minutes of play. However, he has never managed to put the ball into the net against the Blues in the Premier League.

Cristiano Ronaldo was terrific on Wednesday night against Villareal, though his presence could not let Manchester United break the deadlock.

Ronaldoâ€s 42nd and last goal of the season was in the UEFA final against Chelsea when he stepped higher than anyone to bang the ball into the net with a powerful header.

Therefore, commencing his first league game against Chelsea may be the perfect thing for him to start with his name written on the scoring sheet at the end of the day.

Manchester Unitedâ€s Portuguese megastar Cristiano Ronaldo has not made any comments yet about Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahimâ€s interest in him.

The number 7 ace is presently concentrating on his fitness as he intends to be back on the field of play on September 27 for the league game against Bolton Wanderers.

Despite all what happened in the just-ended transfer saga, Ronaldo dismissed suppositions that he might not perform at his best for the double title winners.

Now, it is clear that the Star winger would not love to be asked about his future with Manchester United so as not to be distracted in any way.

Real Madrid seems to have abandoned their pursuit for the European Player of the Year and it is only at the end of this season perhaps, that the Spanish champions will engage again in a war against Manchester for the signature of Ronaldo.

During the transfer saga earlier this summer, the transfer price asked by Manchester United – when the club looked a little bit more willing to sell uncommitted Ronaldo – was a major problem.

Ronaldo was set to quit Old Trafford but it remained for Madrid to raise the amount of their bid. The Spanish club refused to do so, and after all the disputes, Ronaldo finally decided to stay for one more year at the Theatre of Dreams.

Now, the case is completely different. One on side, there is Cristiano Ronaldo who publicly showed his desire to join the most glamorous team in Europe and enjoy a whole lot of riches. On the other, there is Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahim who is now inviting Ronaldo to test his own feelings.

The Manchester City owner said that if Ronaldo was serious about wanting to be in the best club on earth where money flows like rain, then he should prove it by signing for the Sky Blues in January.

Cristiano Ronaldo will be in the record books should he quit Manchester United for archrivals Manchester City at the price of 135 million pounds.

Most big players will be delighted to make such a lucrative move and above all, become part of a new era at a club.

Dr. Sulaiman Al Fahimâ€s challenge is certainly the best thing to test Ronaldoâ€s feelings. Is he going to remain loyal to the Reds for at least a year or will he rather take this great opportunity of becoming the worldâ€s richest player by signing for the Sky Blues?

Dr Sulaimanâ€s offer for Ronaldo is like a train that could pass and never come again, as Ronaldo is not Cityâ€s sole target. There are other big players on the list such as Messi, Ronaldinho, and Kaka.

If Ronaldo refuses to join City in January, it will show how much this successful player knows how to take his own decisions.

After all the worries caused during the saga, Manchester Unitedâ€s greatest concern is presently over Ronaldoâ€s injury.

The winger has started minor exercises and is believed to be back on the pitch in the beginning of October. However, according to The Sun, Ronaldo could only be playing as a starter by November.

There is no doubt that the best solution for Ronaldo is to completely recover once and for all before getting back to action, no matter how long it will take.
