In what was arguably their most thrilling game in La Liga, Real Madrid overcame Sevilla 3-2 at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The visitors went 2-0 up before Cristiano Ronaldo initiated a dramatic comeback for Real Madrid…

The first half didn’t live up to expectations for the hosts. The Spanish giants looked sloppy at the back and finally got punished in their weakness.

Sevilla took the lead in the 10th minute when Xabi Alonso finished off Diego Capel’s pass for an own goal. Frustration was piling up on the home side as they went into the dressing rooms at half time being behind.

Six minutes after the break, there was even more drama as Sevilla doubled their lead. Ivica Dragutinovic’s ball from a free-kick curved in the air and bounced off the turf, leaving goalkeeper Iker Casillas beaten and stunned.

But in dramatic fashion, Real Madrid gathered all their strength and hope to fight back immediately.

First, Cristiano Ronaldo pulled a goal back for Los Blancos at the hour mark to score his 14th La Liga goal and cut the two-goal deficit to only one.

Cristiano was Real Madrid’s main threat throughout and always looked dangerous by creating chances for his team mates.

Higuain, on the other hand played well but failed to score a goal.

Minutes later, Real Madrid made the most of their opportunities from a corner. Sergio Ramos raised his head higher above the others in the box to knock the ball home. Suddenly, the game was leveled much at the home fans’ relief.

From there, Real Madrid were hunting for the winning goal as they attacked more. But they found it only after late in the game.

Midfielder Van der Vaart tapped the ball into the back of the net from close range in injury time to seal Real Madrid’s formidable 3-2 comeback against Sevilla.
