Cristiano Ronaldo fans can be happy! The star winger scored for the second time in a week to help Real Madrid defeat Valencia and thus reduce their three-point deficit against Barcelona in La Liga to only one.
Gonzalo Higuain opened the score sheet before half the hour mark to send Real Madrid 1-0 at half time. CR9, meanwhile, was lively throughout the game and his quick runs visibly troubled Valencia’s defenders. Cristiano Ronaldo’s moment finally arrived with 12 minutes of normal time remaining on the clock. The Portuguese winger scored with a first time shot to complete Marcelo’s great move. The Brazilian initiated the attack with an excellent run down the left hand side of the field and eventually squared the ball into the penalty box. Cristiano Ronaldo was there to tap it into the net.
That goal finished off Valencia who threatened Real Madrid at times during the game. Cristiano Ronaldo now has 20 goals in La Liga whereas Real Madrid are second in the standings with 83 points behind Barcelona who have 84 points.
