Preview – Real Madrid vs Athletico Bilbao (8 May 2010)

coverReal Madrid remains one point behind Barcelona in La Liga as they face Athletic Bilbao. The match will take place the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

Cristiano Ronaldo will try his best to win this final home game of the season. While Barcelona will be facing Sevilla the same day, also this Saturday, and it could determine the result and end the race title for La liga. If Barca are going to slip, the Los Blancos have to be ready to take the advantage of it.

Real Madrid have won their last five matches league matches while Athletic Bilbao are winless in their last five. With two matches left in the Spanish Primera Division (La Liga) season, Real Madrid need to win both to have a chance at catching Barcelona, since they are one point behind their rivals.

Although Athletic Bilbao is 8th on the list, they will certainly won’t make life easer for the Whites. Bilbao needs to win to keep their hopes for the Europe qualification next season. They will need at least one win their final two matches to get the last Europa League spot and probably more than that. So this match is important to both sides.

Even though Cristiano Ronaldo is on his best performance at the last couple of matches, there’s still a posibility for Real slipping up. But Manuel Pellegrini’s side won’t fail this encounter, since Cristiano Ronaldo has inspired them and brought back their confidence, while hoping for Barca to fail getting the 3 points they need. As my conclusion, Real Madrid will defeat Athletic Bilbao with 3-2 or 3-1.
