Despite sustaining a leg injury during Saturday’s game away to Aston Villa, Cristiano Ronaldo finally made the trip to Valencia with the rest of his team-mates for tonight’s Champions League encounter against Villareal.
As Patrice Evra singled it out, the man to watch will be former Manchester United young player Giuseppe Rossi. But the hot duel is between Cristiano Ronaldo and Villareal’s captain Marcos Senna.
It is not certain whether Ronaldo will play as starter or not, but at least, he should have enough time to avenge himself on the Brazilian born Spanish international, who just recently made some few comments on the Portuguese Superstar.
The Euro 2008 winner judged Cristiano Ronaldo as an over-rated and incomplete player. Senna corrected himself, taking back the appraisal he had for Ronaldo before Villareal’s opening Champions League game away to Manchester United.
Despite once declaring that the talismanic 23 year old winger represented 50% of Man United’s power, Marcos Senna now has different opinions – which the public widely disagrees with.
The Yellow Submarine skipper stated that football was not only about scoring a ridiculous amount of goals or making numerous ‘unnecessary’ steps, runs and tricks like Cristiano Ronaldo.
Senna then went on to hail AC Milan’s Ronaldinho, saying that the Brazilian was outstanding everywhere a couple of years ago. Marcos Senna redefined the role of a truly great player, stating that Dinho did not only know how to score goals, but also to make accurate crosses as well as to take penalties and free-kicks.
Ironically, Cristiano Ronaldo does all these things, and statistics of his performance last year will just help proving this fact.
It will be interesting to see then how the reigning European Player of the Year reacts to those comments tonight on the field of play.
