La Liga: Cristiano Ronaldo Scores Goal No 5 As Real Madrid Beat Real Zaragoza 6-0
On Saturday evening at the Santiago Bernabeu, it was sweet, it was entertaining; in one word, it was awesome as Real Madrid hammered Real Zaragoza with six goals.
There was a double for Higuain and Van der Vaart, while Karim Benzema and Cristiano Ronaldo also got a piece of the pie.
Actually, Gonzalo Higuain opened the scoring sheet inside three minutes. The Argentine striker beat the offside trap before shooting low from a tight angle to beat Real Zaragoza’s goalkeeper.
Van der Vaart added the second on 26 minutes and the third a minute later. In a blink of an eye, Real Madrid were already 3-0 up.
Real Zaragoza were never dominant throughout and Higuain again lashed out for his double of the night after an excellent solo piece of work. 4-0 at half time; Los Blancos were flying high and on course to closing the gap against Barcelona to two points.
Real Madrid’s number 9, Cristiano Ronaldo, had a moment of his own four minutes into the second period:
The Portuguese winger controlled the ball in the penalty box with quite a lot of precision before firing the ball past the goal line with his left foot to score Real Madrid’s fifth goal in the match before Karim Benzema completed his brace twenty minutes from time.
Real Madrid’s 6-0 hammering of Real Zaragoza put Los Blancos on 37 points in La Liga after match-day 15; they now have the same goal difference like Barcelona.
Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored four goals in his last three appearances for Real Madrid. He is on course to winning the Pitchichi honor as he has 7 goals to his name in La Liga top scorers chart.
However, he is well behind in seventh behind players like David Villa, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Roberto Soldado or even Gonzalo Higuain.
