Real Madrid may have ended one record in Sunday evening’s loss to Valencia, but Cristiano Ronaldo claimed a new record scoring his 88th goal away from the Santiago Bernabeu, passing the legendary Raul’s total of 87.
In the 13th minute, Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and fired a penalty past Diego Alves and into the history books, even though it would be the only highlight for Los Blancos before Valencia put an end to their historic 22-game winning streak.
Cristiano’s 88 goals in 91 away games surpasses Raul’s mark of 87, followed by Di Stéfano at 71 and Hugo Sánchez at 70.
Cristiano is hoping his goal-scoring form will continue as the team prepares to face cross-town rivals, Atletico Mardrd in their Copa del Rey tie this week.
