Is there any player on earth worth £ 80 million?

For Real Madrid, the answer is ‘YES’ as they splashed this amount of money last summer to secure the signature of Cristiano Ronaldo.

But for one of Real Madrid’s former president, Lorenzo Sanz, the answer is simply ‘NO’.

“Either we are all fools, or whoever paid that for Cristiano is an idiot!” Lorenzo Sanz stated referring to Los Blancos’ current president Florentino Perez.

Lorenzo Sanz, who led Real Madrid to Champions League glory in 1998 and 2000, certainly believes that a sum of £ 80 million doesn’t need to be splashed on one single player in quest of success.

He even declared that his Real Madrid side ‘was equal or better than this one’, which includes the likes of other stars such as Kaka, Benzema, and Xabi Alonso.

“My team was better, player for player. I wouldn’t change it for the current [Real Madrid squad] which is unfortunately worse than Barcelona.”

The former Real Madrid president continued:

“We’re talking about the best players in the world, the best stadium in the world, this and that, because of everything that is expected from Real Madrid.

“This (those expectations), for Cristiano Ronaldo, should be hard to take.”

Lorenzo Sanz is somehow pushing Cristiano Ronaldo to the wall. How will the Portuguese superstar respond to the former Real Madrid club president’s claims?
