World Cup 2014 Qualification Match Result : Israel 3-3 Portugal (22 March 2013)

In the Group F World Cup 2014 Qualification match, Portugal had to end the game in a 3-3 draw against Israel at Ramat Gan Stadium. Fabio Coentrao’s goal at injury time managed to save the team from a humiliation loss. With the result, Portugal stands in third place with 8 points in group standings. While Israel despite collecting the same point, comes second since they lead in the number of goals.

Back to the game, Portugal actually had the opportunity to win after a fast goal in just 2 minutes of the match through Bruno Alves header. With the goal, Portugal showed their lead, with a few minor attempts from Israel team.

At minute 24th, Israel managed to equalize the point with a nice combination from Maor Melikson and Bibras Natcho. Helder Postiga however, threw a one-on-one golden chance in minute 33rd, while Israel doubled the point to close the first half with 2-1.

On second half, Portugal tried to make a comeback with full speed attack. Unfortunately, the attempt failed as Israel score their third in minute 70th through Rami Gershon header. Israel lead with 3-1.

To end the frustration, Portugal finally doubled the points 2 minutes later. The goal came from Cristiano Ronaldo’s assist to Helder Postiga at the penalty box. However, Portugal still need at least one more goal to made it into a draw. Finally, entering the injury time, Fabio Coentrao  managed to save the day by scoring the last equalizer goal. The game ended with 3-3 draw.
