25-150x209 Seleção rivalry: Robinho v Cristiano RonaldoThe battle that will be in the Premiere League at the end of the month between Manchester United and Manchester City is somehow almost already under way.
It won’t be in England this time, but in Brasilia, where Portugal meet the Copa America Champions Brazil.

Ronaldo and Robinho come against each other in what is arguably the most interesting tie of the night, and the Sky Blue number 10 is already relishing this clash.

The 24 year old was part of this summer’s soap-opera involving Real Madrid and Manchester United, as Calderon included him in Madrid’s bid to lure Ronaldo away from Old Trafford.
This idea quickly developed the seed of rivalry between the two Seleccaos. Revenge against Cristiano Ronaldo subsequently became part of Robinho’s desires and everyone thought of him fulfilling this wish by joining the Red Devils’ bitter rivals Chelsea, after it was confirmed that Ronaldo will remain at Old Trafford. “I am the first, the second and the third best player in the world. But there are other good candidates like Kaka, Messi and Fernando Torres,” Ronaldo said.

“I think I did everything that is necessary to win and I want to continue doing even more.
“My aim is to win everything that is front of me,” he went on to state.

48-150x202 Rocket Ronaldo passes a century of goals at the Theatre of Dreams. The day was simply his; Cristiano Ronaldo certainly explained to Ferguson why he deserved a rise of salary.

Going into the match against Stoke City on Saturday, Ronaldo was just one goal shy of a hundred for Manchester United and after an embarrassing afternoon at the Emirates a week before, the Portuguese Superstar was resolute to get things right – this time, in front of the home fans.

Cristiano Ronaldo was a master of free-kicks last season, and people might well remember the one he scored against Portsmouth at Old Trafford in the League, or again the one he got against his old club Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League to maintain Manchester United’s winning record at home in Europe… Read more

ballon_or-150x113 Deco: Ronaldo for Ballon d’Or
Portugal and Chelsea midfielder Deco has become the latest high profile player to consider Cristiano Ronaldo as the right candidate to win the Ballon d’Or Award.

Ronaldo has collected a number of individual honours for his performance last season, including the European Player of the Year award and the FIFPro World Footballer of the Year.

Speaking to the media, Deco recalled that the criteria to win the Ballon d’Or were based on last season’s performance. And talking about last season, the Blue midfielder declared that Ronaldo was unbeatable.
Simple facts: Ronaldo scored over 40 goals (which included outstanding free kicks) despite being a winger. Ronaldo also performed consistently for Manchester United, and helped the team clinch the double.

The 23 year old winger will become only the second Portuguese player after Luis Figo to win the prestigious French award if he indeed gets it in December.

Cristiano Ronaldo

The transfer window is about to reopen in less than two months, but the war between Fergie and Franco’s Madrid – which everyone was expecting – is finally no more.

Manchester United succeeded in keeping their talismanic number 7 ace at the club, Calderon finally gave up his chase, and Cristiano Ronaldo took his own and ultimate decision of staying with the European Champions.

It took quite a long while for Ronaldo to decide whether or not he was going to quit England, and at a point in July, it really seemed like he was heading towards the Spanish capital; Ronaldo went as far as buying a house in Madrid as well as signing a secret agreement with the Spanish Giants according to reports.
