Ferguson warns frustrated Ronaldo

Manchester United are enduring the most difficult moment in their campaign so far and astonishingly, Cristiano Ronaldo is part of the reasons why the Red Devils have been struggling like that.

The World Player of the Year gave the ball away against Aston Villa and Porto respectively only for his side to eventually be punished by the opponent attackers.

Manchester United are currently on their way to achieving an unprecedented quintuple and Alex Ferguson knows that Cristiano Ronaldo’s frustration will only do bad to the team.

“No, I don’t accept that he will give goals away because of the player he is, I speak to him about it. I don’t accept that from anyone,” Ferguson affirmed.

“In European football, if you give the ball away it takes a long time to get it back.”

The reigning European Champions face FC Porto at the Estadio do Dragao on Wednesday night in what will be a crucial encounter given the fact that no English team in Europe has ever won on this ground.

Cristiano Ronaldo will definitely have to avoid the mistake of giving the ball away as much as he’ll need to cooperate with the crowd’s reaction.

Ferguson’s advice doesn’t only apply to Cristiano Ronaldo ahead of the Porto game but also for the rest of the season and the whole of Cristiano Ronaldo’s Manchester United career.
The Star winger has constantly revealed frustration, anger and annoyance on the pitch this season with the incident at Villa Park earlier last year being a perfect example of that.
Manchester United Coach Sir Alex Ferguson is aware of the bad treatment that Ronaldo receives on the pitch but the old Scot also believes that his talismanic number 7 player must learn how to live with that.

“He always feels he’s not getting the proper protection from referees and I think that, maybe, in quite a few cases he is right, and a few cases he is not right.

“It’s hard when a player who wants to entertain doesn’t get everything his own way. But you can’t get everything your own way,” the 67-year-old manager explained.

“He understands that and there’s not a problem with that. It’s just a frustration that he feels he doesn’t get the decision and he gets upset about it.

“I think, obviously, he doesn’t enjoy that and he knows he’s letting himself down more than anything.

“He holds his hands up. I have had to remind him about that but I’m not getting into what has been said.”

More than seven games remain before the season ends; will Ronaldo up his game or crack down?
