The end of the year 2009 Barcelona’s Lionel Messi succeed to Cristiano Ronaldo for the Ballon d’Or, and the FIFA World Player of the Year awards among others.
Cristiano Ronaldo saw the Argentine playmaker picking the UEFA Best Forward & Player of the Year, the Ballon d’Or, and the FIFA World Player of the Year titles in front of his own eyes.
Now, ahead of the year 2010, the Puskas Award winner has avowed his wishes. Cristiano Ronaldo wants to win the Champions League at all cost with a final at the Santiago Bernabeu against Barcelona. And after all, he wants to return on the throne as the planet’s best player.
Speaking to Spanish press Marca, Cristiano Ronaldo insisted on his desires and ambitions:
“I’ve got an ambition of becoming the best player in history.â€
“Thanks God, I won the award for the best player in the world once, but I wish to win it again.”
Cristiano Ronaldo has already scored six goals in the UEFA Champions League despite missing two games in the group stages of the competition.
The Portuguese winger also has seven goals to his name despite featuring only eight times in La Liga. His absences were mainly due to the ankle injury he sustained earlier in September.
Reflecting on his health, which somewhat troubled his perfect start for Real Madrid, Ronaldo concluded:
“My ankle is fine. I think Real Madrid doctors will notice if it’s not fine. I’m certain that I won’t need an operation.â€
