Cristiano Ronaldo: Let’s win the double, Real Madrid!

In the past couple of season, Cristiano Ronaldo managed to win the double with Manchester United twice.

In 2008, Ronaldo won both the English Premier League and the Champions League titles with Manchester United. In 2009, Ronaldo helped the Red Devils to retain the league title and to win the Carling Cup trophy.

Now, the 24-year-old Portuguese Superstar is backing Real Madrid to win the double after the Spanish club was overshadowed by Barcelona’s treble success last season.

“We are going to take it step by step. The priority is the league. The Champions League is very nice, but it also depends on luck and the ties you get.

“It’s going to be a difficult mission to get the double, although I think we are going to do very well.

“My hope is to win at Real Madrid everything that I won during my time at Manchester United. With the structure Real Madrid have, this is possible.

“The new players that have arrived must fit in well with those already here so that all together we can win many things at Madrid and make the club a little greater still.”

Cristiano Ronaldo: La Liga and El Clasico, better than ever

Ronaldo did not only mentionned his desire to win for Real Madrid. Speaking to the guardian.co.uk, the world player of the year also tipped La Liga as better than the Premier League as next season will feature the likes of most of the world’s big stars in Spain.

Ronaldo said:

“The Premier League is a very good competition,”

“but I think that the Spanish league is going to have a little more quality because of the players who are arriving.

“Both leagues are going to be very good, but I think that with Florentino Perez’s signings, the Spanish league will be superior to the English.”

And then what about the fierciest derby in the world, the El Clasico? With Real Madrid’s summer transfer signings appearantly getting on the nerves of Barcelona’s Juan La Porta, there is a sensation that the tension in th El Clasicos will be huge. Ronaldo concluded:

“It’s going to be a magnificent competition in Spain this year,”

“All the footballers have a lot of quality and the referees protect the players more.”
