Real Madrid 5-1 Athletico Bilbao (8 May 2010)- Reviews

cristiano-ronaldo-athletico-bilbao3Cristiano Ronaldo and his duo partner Gonzalo Higuain showed an impressive performance during La Liga match against Athletico Bilbao, at Santiago Bernabeu. Each of them managed to score 1 goal for Los Galacticos. The victory 5-1 to Bilbao kept their 1 point difference from Barcelona, who won 3-2 against Sevilla on the same day.

The first goal for Real Madrid was in 22nd minute, when Fernando Amorebieta made a handball at the penalty box, which caused them a red card, playing with just 10 player for the rest of the match. Cristiano was the executor, and he succeded in netting the ball, ahead from Bilbao with 1-0.

But 4 minutes before the first half over, Bilbao made their first goal, and it boosted their confidence. The score ended in 1-1 in the first half.

The Whites started to get panic.  If they didn’t get full 3 points on this match, they will have to forget the La liga title. Pellegrini changed the strategy by putting Kaka and also Benzema on the field. His strategy worked well, and it showed with a nice header from Higuain on 73rd minute.

Higuain’s  goal injected more spirits to the Whites. 7 minutes later, Sergio Ramos created a nice overlapping which ended with a shot that add the points to Madrid with 3-1.  A minute later, Benzema showed his skill by scoring another goal, and it killed the hopes for Bilbao to narrowing their score with their host.

And it seemed that Los Blancos was on fire that night, as Marcello scored one more goal for the Spanish Giant, just 1 minute before the game ended, with the result 5-1 for the host. That was a nice closure for the goals party at Santiago Bernabeu.

Preview – Real Madrid vs Athletico Bilbao (8 May 2010)

coverReal Madrid remains one point behind Barcelona in La Liga as they face Athletic Bilbao. The match will take place the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu in Madrid, Spain on Saturday, May 8, 2010.

Cristiano Ronaldo will try his best to win this final home game of the season. While Barcelona will be facing Sevilla the same day, also this Saturday, and it could determine the result and end the race title for La liga. If Barca are going to slip, the Los Blancos have to be ready to take the advantage of it.

Real Madrid have won their last five matches league matches while Athletic Bilbao are winless in their last five. With two matches left in the Spanish Primera Division (La Liga) season, Real Madrid need to win both to have a chance at catching Barcelona, since they are one point behind their rivals.

Although Athletic Bilbao is 8th on the list, they will certainly won’t make life easer for the Whites. Bilbao needs to win to keep their hopes for the Europe qualification next season. They will need at least one win their final two matches to get the last Europa League spot and probably more than that. So this match is important to both sides.

Even though Cristiano Ronaldo is on his best performance at the last couple of matches, there’s still a posibility for Real slipping up. But Manuel Pellegrini’s side won’t fail this encounter, since Cristiano Ronaldo has inspired them and brought back their confidence, while hoping for Barca to fail getting the 3 points they need. As my conclusion, Real Madrid will defeat Athletic Bilbao with 3-2 or 3-1.

Real Madrid vs Barcelona – El Clasico: Cristiano Ronaldo Thinks Barca And Messi Are Done

C. Ronaldo vs BarcelonaBarcelona are a complete team, and Lionel Messi is phenomenal. This is what Cristiano Ronaldo thinks ahead of El Clasico this weekend between Real Madrid and Barcelona at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are the leaders in La Liga but through goal difference only. The Spanish Primera Division is the only competition in which Los Blancos remain.

They crashed out from the Copa del Rey at the earliest stage after losing to minnows Alcorcon 4-1 on aggregate. Lyon also blew their UEFA Champions League hopes by beating them 2-1 on over the two legs in the last sixteen of the tournament.

Real Madrid are willing to give everything it takes to win La Liga and they know how much of a threat Barcelona are to their title aspirations.

The Blaugrana have scored 10 goals in their last 3 matches, with Lionel Messi scoring 5 of those 10 goals – 4 of which came against Arsenal on Tuesday in the Champions League.

Commentating on Barcelona and their superstar Lionel Messi, Real Madrid’s Cristiano Ronaldo declared:

”Barcelona are a very complete team and we [Real Madrid] are still lacking a little bit of that ‘something’. I hope that we become more complete than they are.

”Messi doesn’t play alone and his team-mates deserve a lot of credit. He is phenomenal, but those around him are phenomenal as well.”

Will Cristiano Ronaldo’s Real Madrid show Arsenal and the rest of the world how to stop Lionel Messi and Barcelona when both teams clash up in El Clasico on Saturday night in La Liga?

Real Madrid vs Espanyol: Cristiano Ronaldo’s Birthday Wish Denied

CR9 vs EspanyolCristiano Ronaldo publicly avowed that his birthday wish was to feature for Real Madrid against Espanyol in La Liga this weekend.

However, the Spanish Sporting Disciplinary Committee (CEDD) has denied the Portuguese superstar from having his dream granted.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s two-match ban is final and Real Madrid have definitely lost their appeal. The CEDD refused to open the player’s case and this means that Los Blancos will indeed have to fight against Espanyol without Cristiano Ronaldo.

Real Madrid are five points behind Barcelona and in second place in La Liga standings. They’ll be playing at the Santiago Bernabeu with the aim of maintaining their perfect home record this season.

As Cristiano Ronaldo will not play, reports indicated that Manuel Pellegrini will have to chose between Raul and Gonzalo Higuain in the starting line up to partner Karim Benzema upfront in search of goals.

Espanyol meanwhile are struggling in this current campaign. The stand in 14th place and along with bottom side Xerez, they hold the most alarming ‘away goals scored’ record which is of three goals.

Real Madrid vs Espanyol facts:

1) Espanyol will break Real Madrid’s record of ten consecutive home wins if they pick at least a point.

2) Real Madrid can be 6 or 8 points behind Barcelona if they fail to win and if the Catalans beat Getafe on Saturday as well.

3) Raul could extend his 16 goals record against Espanyol if he plays and scores this weekend.

For the 25-year-old Cristiano Ronaldo though, Saturday’s La Liga match between Real Madrid and Espanyol will have to be felt away from the field of play.
