Portugal 1-1 Netherlands. Ronaldo’s late equaliser rescued Portugal at home.

Cristiano Ronaldo has struck late to see Portugal avoid defeat in their friendly encounter with the Netherlands at the Estadio Algarve.
Kevin Strootman had given the Netherlands the lead with a brilliant finish in the 17th minute, but it was the home side who had the majority of efforts on goal.
Just as Swansea City goalkeeper Michael Vorm looked like keeping a clean sheet on his 12th appearance for Orange until the Real Madrid star swooped with three minutes remaining.
Portugal lacked inspiration in the first half as coach Paulo Bento was forced to line up a makeshift midfield due to injuries to several players including Joao Moutinho, Nani and Silvestre Varela.
But the hosts reacted to the goal and pressed on in the second half, getting their reward five minutes before the final whistle when Captain Ronaldo pounced on a corner and levelled with an easy finish.

Poland v Portugal Being the first team to taste the National stadium of Warsaw, Portugal failed to reach a positive result in a friendly match against Poland that ended with a goaless draw. Captain Ronaldo , however, stated that the team will come to Euro 2012 with the ambition to win. And for that, they still have time to increase their performance level.

The match against Poland was a part of preparation before the Euro 2012, where Portugal entered the ”Group of Death” B along with Netherlands, Denmark, and Germany.

”We knew it would be difficult. However, we have to think logically. The group match will be very difficult, but nothing is impossible. We must be sure to win. Mission is possible, but we must remain humble,” added Ronaldo.

To win the group stage, Portugal will also need all the luck they can get, and a much better performance than at yesterday match against Poland.
