Cristiano Ronaldo shows off his new CR7 Underwear range

Cristiano Ronaldo posted a picture on social media of his latest underwear range.

The Portuguese would have expected a far greater return from his 58 goals in all competitions than the FIFA Club World Cup and UEFA Super Cup secured earlier in the campaign, but despite scoring so many goals, Real Madrid failed to win any major trophy this season but it haven’t affected Ronaldo’s off the pitch bussiness.

Ronaldo is used to seeing people wearing Madrid and Portugal shirts with his name on – and the 30-year-old also launched a CR7 footwear range earlier this year.

But the best of the brand will forever be his collection of underwear – and Ronaldo was keen to get the opinion of his Instagram followers on which item he should wear from his luxury line.

The former Manchester United man was ramping up publicity for his new spring and summer range on Wednesday, posing the questioned: ‘Which pair of #CR7Underwear should I wear today? Help me choose!

Cristiano has been seen getting his knickers in a twist at times this season for the La Liga giants, as team-mates have failed to pass him the ball, but wearing the green stripes number – reminiscent of his Sporting Lisbon days – he will at least take satisfaction from another personal accolade.

Heading into the final round of league fixtures, Ronaldo is set to be crowned the Pichichi – La Liga’s top scorer – with his 45 goals currently four ahead of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi.

Cristiano Ronaldo forced by Nike to withdraw CR7 footwear range

Cristiano Ronaldo risked the wrath of Nike by launching his own footwear – and has been forced to pull the range after the American sportswear firm ask him to cancel their €9 million sponsorship deal with CR7.

The Real Madrid star has his own CR7 brand and has launched various items of clothing including his own underwear in recent months.

However it seems he went one step too far last week when he announced his new range of footwear at the Milan Shoe Fair last week. According to Spanish newspaper Sport, Nike, who are one of Ronaldo‘s main sponsors, were angered by the move which they viewed as an infringement on their agreement with the 30-year-old.

Indeed, Sport claim that the sportswear giant threatened to cancel his sponsorship deal, worth €9 million, unless he pulled the range of trainers, loafers and shoes which cost up to €550.

The Real Madrid superstar took the ultimatum seriously and has reportedly withdrawn the range altogether.

The news is just the latest setback for Ronaldo, who has endured a difficult 2015 to date. His form on the pitch has been less than stellar, while his break-up with long-term girlfriend Irina Shayk was well publicised.

FORM

However it seems as though his form is on the pitch is on the up and he’s found the back of the net in his last two games having previously scored just four in his previous ten.

That has not stopped speculation about his future though. Sky Sports journalist Guillem Balague says that he is likely to leave the Bernabeu in 2016, and Manchester United have long been linked with a swoop for their former player.

Cristiano Ronaldo is doing what pretty much every modern footballer is doing – trying to maximise his earning potential while he can. However it seems he has gone a step too far this time and while the Real Madrid superstar is the most recognisable footballer on the planet, he’s still not big enough to avoid a slap on the wrist from one of his paymasters.

Preview: Portugal vs Argentina

For just the second time since his 2009 departure to Real Madrid, former Manchester United talisman Cristiano Ronaldo will turn out at Old Trafford on Tuesday evening.

Fitness permitting, the 29-year-old, who is still revered by the United faithful, will captain a Portugal side that will face World Cup finalists Argentina in a friendly encounter.

Ronaldo proved his worth to the Seleccao on Friday evening when he scored the only goal of the game against Armenia to give his side a critical three points in Euro 2016 qualifying.

Yet, while Ronaldo is known to yearn for the spotlight, he will have to share it on Tuesday evening with a certain Lionel Messi.

Indeed, it will be the first time that the pair have come face to face since Ronaldo was forced to deny claims in Spanish journalist Guillem Balague’s book that he has a derogatory nickname for the Barcelona star when inside the walls of the Madrid dressing room.

When these two sides last met in 2011, both players found the net, but it was Messi‘s that ended up being the most crucial as he fired in a stoppage-time penalty to seal a 2-1 win for the Argentines.

It secured a fifth victory for the South American nation over their European counterparts, who have won this fixture on just one previous occasion – back in 1972 when the late Eusebio was among the goalscorers.

As well as the battle between Ronaldo and Messi, plenty of other talent is expected to be on show in both lineups, with the likes of Angel di MariaSergio AgueroCarlos Tevez, Joao Moutinho and Nani all tipped to feature at some point.

Portugal:

Form in all competitions: DWLLWW

Possible starting lineup: Patricio; Bosingwa, Carvalho, Pepe, Guerreiro; Tiago, Danny, Moutinho, Nani; Ronaldo, Eder

Argentina:

Ronaldo celebrates one-year anniversary of his underwear brand CR7

Cristiano Ronaldo has had every reason to celebrate on the field after a stunning start to the season for Real Madrid.

And the superstar has been doing the same off the field as he celebrated the one-year anniversary since his underwear brand CR7 launched on Sunday.

The 29-year-old, who scored the opener in his side’s 4-0 win at Granada on Saturday, was pictured celebrating the anniversary by cutting a cake in the shape of his briefs.

Since it’s launch last November, the CR7 brand has gone from strength to strength, with a Halloween collection recently released.

Ronaldo has started this season in unsurprisingly lethal form, already scoring 23 goals in all competitions.

The former Manchester United forward will be hoping to heap more misery on Liverpool when they meet in the Champions League for the second time in a fortnight on Tuesday, after scoring the opener in the convincing 3-0 win over the Merseysiders at Anfield.

Cristiano Ronaldo launches it’s SHOE range as he put another step into fashion

The talismanic Read Madrid winger has followed numerous other footballers into the rag-trade by creating footwear carrying his famous name.

Cristiano Ronaldo has followed numerous top-level professionals by creating a fashion brand under his own name.

‘Cristiano Ronaldo Footwear’, as revealed on the star’s Facebook page, will feature shoes that are 100 per cent made in his native Portugal and will be available to buy from next February.

The shoes – based on the Portuguese player’s identity, image and behaviour, it says here – will target the premium end of the footwear market rather than the many styles of trainers usually associated with sports stars.

Footballers have famously branched into fashion and accessories before now.

David Beckham now owns his range of men’s toiletries called ‘Instinct’, while new QPR signing Rio Ferdinand runs his clothing company ‘#5’.

Ronaldo is still remaining fully focused on his playing career and is set to return to Real Madrid pre-season over the next week, after added time-off because he played in the World Cup.
