Florentino Perez: I wouldn’t sell Ronaldo, not even for €1 billion

Florentino Perez insists Cristiano Ronaldo will not leave Real Madrid in the summer following links with Manchester United.

United have been linked with a move for their former forward, who has two years left on his current deal at the Bernabeu, while Chelsea have also been credited with an interest.

However, Real president Perez insists he has no intention of selling the Portuguese star and claims a bid of 1,000 million euros would not be enough to convince him to allow Ronaldo to leave.

I will do everything in my power to renew the contract. He has two years left on his contract, he is the best in the world and we would like to give a boost to the team with him as a leader and an emblem,” Perez told Marca. ”I would not sell him for 1,000million euros. We are not a selling club.”

”He is a winner and he wants to win titles and Real Madrid is the right place for it. When he said he was sad [in September], he talked to me and I told him I would do everything possible for him to be happy.”

The rumours of where Cristiano Ronaldo will be playing next season doesn’t seem to have an ending. In a recent Tweet, Cristiano Ronaldo says: ”All the news about my renewal are false”.

His recent twitter activity shows he could be stalling on renewing his contract, however Ladbrokes confidently believe he will still be at the Bernabeu come the end of the summer transfer window. At the moment you get an odds at 5 if he decides to switch club from Real Madrid.

Something that could increase the chances according to The Sun is that Ronaldo will return to his former club Man Utd is a possible swoop of the Tottenham star Gareth Bale where rumours are indicating a record £85 million transfer.

Cristiano Ronaldo targets Champions League top scorer award

Real Madrid and Portuguese superstar winger Cristiano Ronaldo leads the charts with 12 goals in this season’s Champions League campaign.

Ronaldo is on course to win the Champions league top scorer award.

He scored his last one with an easy tap-in away to finalists Borussia Dortmund after helping his side reach the semi-finals with crucial goals in the knockout stages against old club Manchester United and Galatasaray.

The 28-year-old, who has netted 55 goals for Los Blancos in 55 games, could dethrone Lionel Messi. The latter has scooped each of the last four top scorer awards in the tournament.

However, Ronaldo’s prospect of finishing as this year’s highest goal scorer in the Champions League hangs in the balance. It will all depend on how his closest challengers – Robert Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund, who has 10 goals, and Thomas Mueller of Bayern Munich, who has 8 Goals – perform in tonight‘s Champions League final.

If it seems almost impossible for Mueller – who scored three times against Barcelona in the semis – to catch Ronaldo at the top of the chart, but the same cannot be said of Lewandowski.

The Poland international remains a serious contender against world football’s most expensive signing.

The ability of the Borussia Dortmund striker is now undoubted following his historic four-goal feat at home to Real Madrid in the previous round. No other player in the history of the Spanish giants had ever hit four goals in a single European match against them.

Lewandowski could not find the target in his last Champions League encounter, which took place at the Bernabeu. He came close on several occasions as his side held on to reach the final.

At Wembley, Borussia Dortmund will need the forward to have a bit more luck in the absence of injured key player Mario Gotze if they want to humble Bayern Munich.

A hat-trick would not only be a dream end to Lewandowski’s 2012/13 Champions League campaign on an individual note. It would also see him knock Ronaldo off the number one spot.

Earlier this month, Ronaldo could only finish second with seven goals behind Atletico Madrid’s Diego Costa in the Copa del Rey. His extra-time dismissal meant there was no way the Real Madrid winger could continue his hunt for the top scorer award in this domestic competition.

The 2012 FIFA Ballon d’Or runner-up has been very familiar with the second spot in multiple individual and collective awards since his move to Spain back in 2009.

Winning the 2012/13 Champions League top scorer award should bring comfort to Ronaldo, and will end messi’s rule over champions league top scorer award.

Mourinho, Ronaldo get bans for Cup final reds

Real Madrid’s Jose Mourinho and Cristiano Ronaldo were handed two-match bans in the King’s Cup but later Ronaldo’s ban reduced to 1 cup match ban after they were sent off in last week’s final at the Bernabeu, the Spanish football federation (RFEF) said on Wednesday.

Mourinho was dismissed for vigorously disputing a refereeing decision in the 75th minute of Friday’s 2-1 final defeat by Atletico Madrid.

The Portuguese will not serve his punishment in next season’s Spanish cup competition as he agreed to leave the club by mutual consent on Monday. Media speculation has linked him with a possible return to Chelsea.

Portugal forward Ronaldo was sent off with a straight red card in the second half of extra-time for kicking out at Atletico captain Gabi and appearing to catch him in the face.

He received a one-match ban for violent conduct and for the accumulation of cards, having received a yellow earlier in the game.

La Liga runners up Real have two games left this season, at Real Sociedad on Sunday and home to Osasuna on June 1st.
